Razor thin clearance between calipers and inside barrel of wheels - am I in trouble?

Been running WJ Akebono calipers with 15x8 MT Sidebiter 2 wheels for about 5 years. I had to grind off just a little on the outside edge of the calipers to avoid wheel contact. They are tight and I run balance beads inside the tires for weights. I have never had a problem with rocks getting...

    Re-gearing differentials myself?

I agree, don't get a cheap digital micrometer. I use a digital caliper daily (mechanical engineer), so I don't have a cheap one. ;) And just because I have a quality digital caliper, doesn't mean I don't know how to read a Vernier caliper. :nono: You know what they say about assuming. Digital...

1996 Two Door For Sale $3900

Prices have been climbing for the last few years, long before covid. The popularity of JK 4 doors and their proven capability, but high resale prices has steered many towards XJ's as an "inexpensive" alternative. Increase in demand, means an increase in price. That is only compounded by an...

    Squatty XJ

Do you currently have shackle relocation boxes? They can allow you to add about 1" of lift in the rear. Then depending on shackle length you can fine tune the amount of lift in the rear.

    Tube bender input

I have done this with my 1.5" die. I made sleeves for the die and slide block using 1.5" x .120 tube to bend 1.25" x .120 wall tube. It works well.

    Winch Bumper Manufacture

After a lot of research of front winch bumpers, I really like the Filthy Addictions Offroad winch bumper. It is strong, yet still light and has excellent approach angle. I actually built my own based on their design.

Tube Rockers Question: Beef vs Weight

I don't see the outer .120 edge being an issue. The edge adds structural strength and it is really less than a 2" span between edges. Plus, majority of rock sliders have .120 wall tube on the outside (which I plan to add at some point). The hardest hits are usually dropping down onto rocks...

Tube Rockers Question: Beef vs Weight

I made my own 2x6 rock sliders by welding (2) 2x3x.120 square tubing. This keeps the sliders light weight, but gives a .250 center wall down the length.
  18. 2x3.120 x 2 = 2x6 sliders with .250 center wall.

    2x3.120 x 2 = 2x6 sliders with .250 center wall.
