FWIW, I had Currie LCA's on my 2003 TJ Rubicon. It was the only modification I made where my wife said it actually made the ride better than stock. From my perspective the johnny joints were easy to maintain, durable, provoded a good on road ride and flexed like mad off road.

Picked up 4 33x10.50 BFG MT's today. I will be going with the 3" and trimming as I mentioned. Will try to make a decision on lift tomorrow and order. Thanks for your help.

Great info and following my own thinking. I don't mind waiting as I collect some other parts, but I frankensteined one of my last builds and this time around plan to use a kit engineered by someone better than me! Right now I am leaning heavily towards the DPG kit of some height, mostly...
I am just starting a build on my 2001 xj. I have been scouring the web for 3" lifts. I have looked into 2 budget minded options, Rusty's and Rough Country and 2 more expensive options (in the 3" range), Rancho and DPGoffroad.
I'd like to go with full spring packs rather than add a leafs...
I had a BDS lift on the TJ I just recently gave to my son. It rode way better than the Rubicon express lift on my last TJ. I now have a bone stock 2001 XJ and am also looking into small lifts, looking to run a 3" lift, 33x10.50's with some trimming.
It is hard for me to argue against the BDS...
