This should be a good solution for what you need and open up more options for hitch racks.
Make sure you stay away from any kind of bike rack that makes direct contact with your bike frame.
Is cavfab one of the 3-4 budget ones with cheap joints you mentioned? Because I'm not a fan of their heims. What do you recommend to replace them with?
raising this from the dead. I cannot keep these damn heim joints clocked- specifically on the tie rod. I get them clocked tight, red locktite and all on the jam nuts, preventing flopping and clunking, and then within days the clunking is back. I'm going to assume I'm not doing it right...
Back before the LED headlight craze, I upgraded put an ARB headlight harness in along with some bright ass PIAA bulbs.
Can I swap in a pair of LED headlights with the upgraded harness installed? Do I need to run the stock harness? Or does it not make a difference?
Interesting. On their product page, the install video shows it going on below it: http://cavfab.com/CavFab-Jeep-CrossOver-Steering-XJTJZJMJ_p_105.html
I'm open to information. Why do you think it should be above?
Haven't gotten any bumpsteer- that I notice at least? Not sure if these are cheap or not. I get the impression that the CavFab guy doesn't think his stuff is cheap, and he calls the heims on his site: "Quality Heat Treated Chromoly Heim Joints"
Ok, so the heims, if you're looking at them from the side should (simply) look like an X instead of // ? I think that's the case.
I think both are //
Also, now looking at those photos, I'm wondering if the drag link is bumping my sway bar. And now I'm wondering why my sway bar is sitting...
Hmm, I wonder! Will check it out in a bit. When you say twist the heims, you mean tighten? Otherwise, the heim on my pitman arm is already about 45deg.
Will do shortly. What do you mean by clocking my heims on both ends?
I've got everything installed and aligned. Wanted to see if this steering has caused any new "clunking" noises for anyone else post install? I know the drag arm rotates up and down a bit- could that "flopping" motion be creating a new -and normal- noise that I'm hearing from inside when...
Nope it's not a personal opinion when so many people agree.. their stuff just sucks. Weak, flimsy design and crap bushings. Their doors remain open because of their price point. And their customer service isn't anything to write home about anymore either. Had two pairs of leaf packs fail...
My driver's seat is shot and causing back pain, so it's time to replace. I'm 6'4" so I think XJ seats are out of the question, since I don't have much room to work with.
I've searched around on these forums and others, and read that corbeau seats, with their XJ adapter bracket sit higher...
The single pins were the Dorman pins from Amazon for $7 or 8. They sell four packs too.
I had to go through my annual carwash and have water cascading in between the body and door before I realized how bad it was. Got home and lifted it up and down and had a ton of play. Check arm bracket...
Filed the lower pin's spines down a bit before putting it in, and that seemed to help a bit. Still didn't want to go in all the way, but completely fixed my door gap and sag. Two body shops here wanted $500+ to repair (buy new hinges, cut old ones off, weld new ones on, etc). Two $8 pins and...
