    5.3 Vortec California Legal Swap

Is that the stock GM A/C unit? I finally gave up on the stock XJ compressor when I swapped on Novak headers and the compressor lines (which go out the back of my compressor) had no chance of fitting anymore. If thats the stock GM a/c im going to have to pick that up. With the KWIK brackets...

    2000 XJ engine swap options?

why not just swap a good head onto your motor? how low is the oil pressure? Every 4.0 I've ever seen has crap oil pressure once hot. If your running anything thinner than 15w-40 I would expect 10-15 psi at idle and not more than 30 if you're lucky at about 2000 rpm, that seems normal. If the...

    V8 swap question

I used the factory shift cable. Hardest part is keeping it far enough away from the exhaust that it doesnt melt

    V8 swap question

I have the stock AW4 shifter to my 4l60e. Its fine, i have no trouble using it and I havent even got around to redoing the detents in the shifter yet. I just flipped the 4l60e lever on the transmission and if I remember correctly thats all I had to do. It shifts to all gears P to 1

98xj 5.3 swap (the poverty method).

Yeah blocking if you can just tack a few sheets on would be a quick easy way to test it. I think the wheeling heat is caused by the fan. I think you had said it was 1600 CFM, which is not enough. I would say you should consider adapting a taurus fan to it. Also, if the shroud has a lot of...

98xj 5.3 swap (the poverty method).

I was thinking about underhood pressures this morning and this thread came to mind. Are you still running that scoop? If you are, try blocking it off and going for another highway drive. Increasing pressure behind the radiator definitely isnt helping airflow through the radiator.

Converting the 4.0L OBD2 fuel system to a return style system?

wow wonder what the margin is on that adapter, 400%? Would definitely be a convenient piece and a lot more tempting at $50.

Converting the 4.0L OBD2 fuel system to a return style system?

Seems like the assembly should not just swap over since it is horizontal vs vertical. Replacing with a 91-95 tank would do it though. Alternatively you could just tap the tank for the return. If youre upgrading to a bigger pump, consider running a new line for the feed and then reusing the...

    8.25 gear pattern advice

Whats the gearing? On my 8.25 the locker was fine on stock 3.55 gears. When I did 4.56 gears I had to shave a tooth down a bit to make sure the cross shaft could come out.

98xj 5.3 swap (the poverty method).

1600 cfm that's not very much, but on the freeway it shouldn't have anything to do with the issue. Burping the 5.3 depends on your setup. For me it's really tricky because I have a radiator hose that runs as high as the filter neck so it will never fill with water through the filler. I just fill...

98xj 5.3 swap (the poverty method).

what do your radiator hoses look like? There's not really a good reason to assume the pump is weak unless it is making weird sounds or you think it was poorly maintained, pump impellers aren't exactly wear items. The pump moves a ton of water do a little degradation would be pretty much...

    AW4 shifting early!

I was thinking it could be an issue with the transfer case gear sensor or the transmission input speed sensor. Sounds kind of like the tcu is thinking the tcase is in low gear, though I would kind of expect it to throw a code when it realizes the engine speed doesnt match the output speed, but...

Suggestions on how to waterproof my 5.3 intake?

The proper solution is to RTV the rubber plugs in place and also to RTV a little dam in front of the hole. I dont know if he did this but yeah I agree it should be done if it hasnt been already.

Do you care more about preventing hydrolock or running underwater? If hydrolock is the main concern you could try a bypass valve
