New to my XJ & wrenching - How to choose parts and what to prioritize?!

The advice I give every new XJ owner is buy a new crankshaft position sensor, remove and replace current CPS and keep the known good one in your glove box + carry tool necessary to change it in the Jeep. That is the part most likely to leave you unexpectedly stranded.

    2000 cherokee chk eng light

If you experience a backfire it will blow that fitting off. Happened to me when my coil rail went bad and I was having backfires.

    Radiators

What's so cool about that thread is that it spans 4 years and all of the follow-up on specific radiators. No one who ran a Mishimoto ran it for very long due to the passages clogging up. Like I said, I think we need coolant filters. I wonder if the remote bypass type filters would be good...

    2000 cherokee chk eng light

You are going to need to see what the actual code is to start with. You can get an OBDII code scanner for cheap and sync it with your phone. Once you have the code, forum users can point you in the right direction.

Quick question regarding OTK steering and a PSA regarding Rough Country

I have the brackets ordered, I'll just have to find someone to weld them. Here's the big thing I have against the Rough Country kit. When it was clear that they were not going to respond to Quadratech, I started looking for substitute parts and then learned that there is a big taper and small...

    Radiators

That is an excellent thread. What I took away from that thread is that we should all be running coolant filters.

Quick question regarding OTK steering and a PSA regarding Rough Country

PSA first: DO NOT BUY THIS ROUGH COUNTRY STEERING KIT! Reason: The tie rod ends failed very quickly and Quadratec (they have been great throughout this ordeal) has been trying since early November to get the tie rod ends warrantied, with no response from Rough Country. This has led to an...

Before I Get the Head Milled (Overheating)

For what it's worth I recently replaced my timing chain due to a leaking front cover and it had a noticeable effect on cooling. The FSM says to change at 1/2" of deflection and mine was definitely more than that. My XJ was at 190K miles when I changed it.

    Death wobble

In my case, the wallowed out track bar bolt hole on the axle was causing death wobble. I fixed it with this kit from Kevin's Offroad...

    Xj still getting Hot.

For what it's worth, I recently changed my timing chain (2001, 190K miles) because it was leaking oil from the front cover and I figured I might as well change everything if I was going to take it apart, and there was a noticeable improvement in cooling. I was involved in some of the recent...

    Regear

I'm running 33s with 4.56 and wouldn't go with 4.88s if you do any highway driving at all. At 60 mph I am right at 2200 RPM. With stock tires and gears I was at or a hair under 2000. So yeah, it feels like I am flogging it at 70 mph.

    Amazon cs 130 rebuild kits

The kit has the bearings too. I had one in my 2wd for almost 8 years before I bought the 4wd I am driving now. Threw a kit at the alternator in the 4wd drive because it's my daily driver. Going on 14 months now and is working good.

4.0 - replaced entire cooling system, still overheating

I read the entire 29 page radiator thread (awesome thread BTW) and I agree that was most likely the problem. It's weird how many people eventually ditched their Mishimotos due to frequent blockages. I wanted to give an unexpected update. After the aluminum radiator, my cooling situation...
