Have you tried disconnecting the shocks and going for a drive? (Obviously keep speeds limited.) Just curious if the ride softens up more to your liking... maybe the springs are too firm???
I know shock tuning can be a pain, but if their rebound valving is so slow as to keep the springs...
I have replaced the OEM control arm bushings recently, it is very difficult to get the old ones out. In the past I drilled holes in the rubber, cut/ground out any leftover rubber, threaded a hacksaw blade through the hole to notch the sleeve and remove it. It is a lot of work!
