What I'm talking about is called a pinion baffle, first is the big slinger, then big bearing, then big bearing inner race, pinion baffle and race shims sandwiched behind the race and the housing
It's my first time setting up jeep gears.
I started with a bare housing and a box of parts.
The pinion baffle that fits behind the large pinion bearing race has been causing me issues.
If I install the baffle, the crush sleeve pushes the baffle inwards towards the big bearing inner race...
I went against the advice of many and sunk some coin into my 35. I'm not recommending you do the same because we all know that the 35 is the baby sister of the xj axle options BUT... I have yet to break my 35. And it gets abused on a regular basis. I went with a full case true trac and USA...
I have not looked into so I could be wrong but... Is the 01 coil rail not some mercedes v12 part that was adapted? Maybe a hi po Mercedes rail could be used? Won't fix the pita coil on plug issue. (I have an 01) but could be a performance option?
Re: 2000 XJ - Kaboom!
I have a Tom woods shaft and it's defiantly not "great". Installed last year and is showing age in the slip already. Seems like mass produced parts to me. And the rough country shaft I was lookin at yesterday was identical from what I could see and less $$$$.
I grease my...
I bought a rough country labeled sye, looks exactly like every other sye I have seen and it leaked at the yoke seal from day one. I installed it correctly, just cheap low quality parts. Whatever brand you go with be sure to wash it well before install, mine was full of swarf
No asap required but paying a local premium price and still waiting 4 weeks is a little much, if I order from the USA I get free 2 day shipping on most things with my Amazon prime and pick up from the border once a week, Canada is not quite up to par with some of it's online sales it seems
I wonder if those fat bob shackles require the same grinding and shimming?? I have seen those ranger shackles used before. I have a feeling I will ge getting a e mail from the dealer I ordered my mj shackles from telling me they dont actually have any to sell me... Then it will be down to ranger...
Thanks for the heads up on the budget boost shackle, had not seen that one before,
If anyone can confirm if the tomken shackle is a true 1/2 shackle, please do.
I'm looking for minimal lift, just canceled a tomken 1/2" shackle Order due to a 4 week delay, I prefer rubber over urethane.
Is anyone here running the fat bob .75 shackle? Is it tin junk with recycled rubber garbage bushing? Waste of 60 bucks? Would I be better off ordering new oem mj...
Just came back from my FLAPS with a bunch of exhaust goodies for my 01's exhaust make over, under closer inspection it appears that rock autos part numbers are incorrect for the 00/01 xj.
Can anyone confirm if there is or is not a pair of exhaust doughnut gasket between the spilt exhaust...
I run dual true tracs on my jeep, if u have an auto and good rubber TT,s will get you places. I felt A slight bit of extra steering resistance on my first drive with them installed, that's about it, I am a true track believer. Full case strength is a bonus, and my jeep is 100% better in the...
