Checked all electrical connections, throttle body gets cleanned every year. This is pretty much a trail rig and only see around 5000km a year tops, however it is used hard, so i am a little anal on maintiance. I've got a good running spare engine with all censors on it, so i may just swap them...

Coolant was not hot, not boiling, no steam. Jeep is regularly maintained, battery is fresh. Thinking coil pack or crank positioning censor??

I have a 97 xj sport, 4.0L auto. A few times when wheeling, the engine will stall at idle. The temp hand is at 100, the coolant is not boiling, yet it will not start as if its overheating. i wait 15 or 20 mins, it starts and runs fine. So tonight while doing some snow wheeling, it happened...

I've been running an RC tracbar for about 2 years now, with RE 5.5 coils and 33's, and i'm very pleased with it. I drive my Jeep daily and wheel it on weekends. The only thing i did not like was the rod end that comes with it, however i replaced it with a spicer rod end and have had no problems...

First of all from a Machinist point of view, I see nothing wrong with this set up except for the hardware possibly not being strong enough! I'm having the same problem with my '97, however i've replaced both the pump and the box, it got a little better but still not the way it should be! My question is, am I using the wrong fluid, or is there a difference?

I just installed a Rough Country track bar on my 97 XJ with a 5.5 RE coils, and am very impressed with it!! I had a RE 1600 on my old XJ and had horible luck with heim joints!!

I've made several sets. I used a deleron or nylon plastic. You can pick it up at any machine shop and have them bore it out to the outside diameter of the bumpstop!! I like the plastic more because its easier to work with and will not make any noise!!

I'm still interested!! Can have it picked up by next week sometime!!

Well done!! I was trying to figure out how i could accurately cut bead locks on a manual lathe, but according to, laser is the way to go!! What kind of material did you use?

In Old Man's write up on how to do a Hack and Tap on a pre 97 XJ, it says to replace the stock tail cone with one from a 97 or newer XJ!! I was wondering if a tail cone from a 98 2.5L TJ will work as well? Thanks in advace!! Adam

Sorry! Can't help you there! My jeep was bought for trail use and it's a peice of crap!! If something electrical shits the bed (stops working) I usually run it to a toggle switch!!
