There are some factos you have to take into consideration. If you are doing the chalk test with a cold tire wersus warm, also if it is a brand new tire that hasn't broken in. With that size I would go right to 32 and leave it. That size with the belt design and structural stiffness should...
I can speak from experience for a 23 foot wake boarding boat. I have a cherokee with 6.5 inch lift, I would tow the boat as long as I don't have to go over 40. Not to mention it did try to drag my jeep into the water. There is no way I would feel safe towing anything over 20 or 21, even then...
I am hoping I am putting this is in the correct place. We have a 2001 Grand Cherokee that we want to convert from 2wd to 4wd. It has the 4.0 and i'm not sure what trans. It does have some tranny issues, so I would like to use an auto trans, transfer and front axle from an XJ. Has any one done...
Hi All,
I have chosen and purchased a lift for my cherokee. It is a 6.5 Rough Country LA kit. My question is simple, are there any common hang ups that i should know about aside from seized bolts? I am wondering more about any fab type work that is required for fitment or just in general...
Well thanks for all the input. I think I am leaning toward running a CV with the stock slip yoke set up, I have a great hook up locally to get it done. Ill report the results if I have a problem with it.
I ran a 6.5 inch short arm kit, it road very rough. But I loved the stability it had off road, towing, and just cruising down the freeway. I was also very pleased with the service they provided when my bushings were wearing and needed attention. I am going to use them on my new jeep and I do...
Hi All,
I am looking for opinions or facts that canhelp me understand why it is necessary to do an SYE as opposed to just adding a CV to the drive shaft. A friend of mine said all he did with all of his xj builds he just had a cv built. Supposedly he never had an issue, and I went with him to...
Have you tried removing the rear drive shaft and breaking? Or have you put the rear end in the air to see if the same thing happens when you don't have the load of the vehicle against the suspension. Also look for any cracking around the rear spring mounts, and bushing condition of the rear...
I suppose that last statement would be somewhat true, if you were lifting it 8 inches. But for 2 inches it is an effective, inexpensive option. If someone can come up with a more logical arguement than the last clearly brilliant person, I am fine with being corrected.
I was running a small 2 inch lift on my 99, I did drop the trans 3/4 of an inch, but otherwise did not have to change anything. If you like the ride you currently have, you could just throw a small block under the leafs for your 2 inches in the rear. Also if cost is a concern, there is nothing...
Oh wow, I had a feeling this was going to be one of those topics that could go either way. Thanks for the feedback!! I will post pics of the final choice.
I ran the RC 6.5 lift, this with some minor trimming could get you over 35's, I used the jeep for many purposes including owing as well as wheelin 4+ trails in Moab. I even towed a coupe cars with it, I ran it for 4 years and sold the jeep. I ended up changing the bushings once in the leafs...
So here is the plan... Maybe. This is my second XJ build, the first ran a 6.5 inch RC lift. I liked the stability, and offroad performance of it, the road manners were way too rough though for me. So this go round I want to run the same lift but with a better ride. I use the jeep to explore...
Awesome, thanks for the suggestions. I have checked the main areas you would see a leak and have not been able to identify any leakage on the interior from an apparent bad core. I do not smell it when there is no air being pushed through the vents.
I don't doubt this has come up at some point or another, but I am unable to find any such discussion. I have a 98 Cherokee with the 4.0, often times when I am driving I can smell coolant through the vents, it seems wether it is on outside air or heat. I am thinking it may likely be the heater...
