    Dirt bound bumpers.....

I can say with certainty that DirtBound does not outsource their XJ bumpers. I've ordered from them several times over the years and can tell you they're building their own parts. I even spoke with Max "the owner" personally when there was an issue with a hoop kit I purchased a few years ago...

WJ Knuckles / Brakes on JK44?

Main reason I'm asking is I already have all the WJ stuff. So I figured if I bought a bare JK front axle, I could use what I have. Maybe I'd be ahead to just sell what I have and go with all JK stuff . . .

    Arizona peeps

I'm still in Glendale and still have my '98. I'm not a red member anymore, but probably should pay my dues and sign back up again. This is still the best place for XJ tech on the web IMO. I don't get to wheel much, but continue to put time and money into the rig and wheel it when I can...

WJ Knuckles / Brakes on JK44?

Like the title says. If I were to source a bare JK44 front axle, either secondhand or buy new from one of the aftermarket outfits, will the WJ stuff fit? Knuckles, Hubs, Rotors, etc.?

    Opinions wanted Re: Axles

I've been running a HP D30 / 29 spline 8.25 with 35's for several years now. 4.56 gears, alloy shafts, e-locker in front and Detroit in the rear. I wheel it fairly hard, but I always keep in mind I'm on "stock" axles with 35's, so I'm light on the skinny pedal. So far, no issues with the D30...

Congrats and welcome back. Went through something similar many years ago. Live and learn . . .

    XJ Cabin Noise Vs WJ

I used FatMat on the roof, floors and inside all the doors and rear fenderwells. It helped a lot with the noise and my A/C is able to keep up better as well. That's important when its 110 down here in Phoenix. Its still noisy inside but not nearly as bad as before the FatMat.

Adjustable shackles - Ironman or Core

I'm running the IronMan shackles and am happy with them. Having said that keep in mind that even when they're adjusted to their lowest, they're still a couple inches longer than most all the other lift shackles. This worked out fine with my setup, as I was looking for more lift and better...

Structural integrity after removing inner wheel wells?

Also I'm assuming you've already bent the pinch seam over? I cut in mine a couple spots and bent it over with a hammer. You can actually pound it back a little more for extra clearance without hurting anything. I seam sealed and painted mine once I was done massaging.

Structural integrity after removing inner wheel wells?

Have you considered pushing the front axle forward an inch or two? Maybe then cut out and replace the piece in front of the wheel-well as planned and leave the pinch seam alone? My .02

2 door Cherokee 01 with 25,000 miles... mild build for daughters first Jeep

X2 on the Comp Mount and a steering box support. I have both, but no front frame plating yet. Wheeling on 35's pretty hard and no issues so far after 8+ years. Having said that, I've had mid stiffeners installed for several years now and I do have front stiffeners sitting in the garage, just...

    Steering suggestions for 5.5-6" lift

I find it hard to believe you don't have bumpsteer at that lift with the Currie setup. I'm at 5.5 / 6.0 lift with Currie steering and it does bumpsteer. Not anything I can't live with, but it's definitely noticeable vs what it drove like with a 3.5" lift. Having said that, I'm not running the...

Raising up a bumper to install

You guys have some heavy ass bumpers. I think mine is around 50 lbs.

Pre-Production Sneak Peak at Boostwerks Comp Mount

Here's what I ended up with for a home-made bumper. Took me way too long - I really don't have all the tools needed to do this the easy way, but it's finished now. Just needs paint and final install. Approach angle will be awesome and I'm happy with how it turned out. IMG_0166 by Brent...

XJ Weak Points and How to Best Fix Them Long Term

This was my basic approach when I first bought my XJ 7 years ago. I had rock sliders, frame stiffeners and a cage before anything else. Lots of strange looks and some rude comments at times, but I was being proactive since I intended to have this rig a long time. Now it's lifted, locked...

Pre-Production Sneak Peak at Boostwerks Comp Mount

I bought a set of "builder tie-ins from DirtBound, then cut them down and notched them to fit the 1.5" x 3" tube. I'll add a gusset later between the tie-in and the wing. [/url]

Pre-Production Sneak Peak at Boostwerks Comp Mount

Well, here's what I've been working on. I decided against the all-in-one Comp Mount / Bumper. What I ended up doing was building a low profile bumper with a cut-out in the middle for access to the winch. I'm not so much going for the "hidden" look as just something functional with great...

Sorry about the double post. Didn't realize the pics were HUGE and couldn't figure out how to delete.

Pre-Production Sneak Peak at Boostwerks Comp Mount

Coolant Tank installed. I ended up buying a Dorman p/n 54002 expansion tank. It's a tight squeeze, but once I got it past the A/C lines I was able to mount it near the back of the engine compartment. I had to re-shape the mounting bracket and weld a small tab on one side for one of the...
