Was this on a trail in the salt lake area (like mineral basin)? I am just curious as to the location.

    Thoughts on tires?

I ran those tires on my toyota pickup a couple years ago and was very happy with them. Great on-road manners, suprising performance off-road, and great tread life. I wouldn't hesitate to get them, especially at a good price.

    t-case ??'s

What t-case came in the 86 with the V6 engine? I need to rebuild my 231, and my bro-in-law just swapped his tranny and t-case out of his 86. I am hoping to be able to use his old t-case for parts. TIA Boyd

    Looking for welders

Definitely stick with the big name (lincoln, miller, hobart, etc.) as this will simplify finding replacement parts in the future. Also, if you want to go heavy duty, you gotta go 220v, which means extra cost to get an outlet wired up if you don't already have one.

What is your local gas price?

Yikes! Average $1.59/gal here in the Salt Lake City area.

    Does UPS deliver on saturdays?

Here is the situation---did the r&p on my 8.25 last sunday, things went fine until it came time to change the ring gears on the carrier. Little did I know that the 10 bolts are left-hand thread!! Of course, the impact wrench didn't seem to mind too much, breaking five of them off before we...

D30 gears done, on to the 8.25

I paid $612 w/ shipping to my door. That included everything for the front and rear. You can probably pick up most of the parts at Autozone (I know they carry Timken bearings, which is what came with my o/h kit) or napa, maybe even a little cheaper

D30 gears done, on to the 8.25

hjeepxj-- I went with Yukon gears from Randy's R&P. After calling around to all the major distributors, they had the best price. I went with the complete overhaul kit, as my rig has 165k on it. Glad I did, simply for the peace of mind. The biggest problem we had ( besides the usual try and...

D30 gears done, on to the 8.25

I went with 4.10's, as I figure I'll only be running 31's. Ha ha ha......

D30 gears done, on to the 8.25

Finished the front gears late this evening and let me just say that was the biggest PITA for the least amount of results! 10 hours of work, and the front driveshaft is laying in the back of the jeep, until I can get the rear done. It is going to be a long week of waiting for another chance to...

    gears on 8.25...some ?'s

Well, a big brown truck dropped off a nice big box full of goodies from some guy named Randy. He finally sent me those 4.10 gears I have been dreaming about. I have a friend who is a mechanic, and has set up R&P's on some d35 and d30's, but never the 8.25, so he is a little apprehensive, as...
