    Column shifter

So, I've heard they exist, but are they swapable? What would this involve, just swapping the entire column? What sort of center console was in XJs set up like this? Finding one seems like it would be the hardest part of the swap...

    Patch 3.2 sucks

Ok, no threads, so there must not be any other WoW nerds on here. Which just means noone will know what I'm saying. Nonetheless, I am considering canceling my account after the high hopes and great disappointment of 3.2.

    Damage

So after several years, I finally decided to disassemble my original 4.0. The head did not appear to be cracked, and the gasket looked ok, but there was lots of rusty crud in #5 and #6. I knew that there was coolant in there, but I didn't know why. So I removed all the pistons, crank, cam...

    Door handle source

So I went to the Jeep dealer looking to replace the outside door handle I broke on a tree years ago. When he told me they were $200 each I promptly flipped him off and walked out. So does anyone know of an aftermarket source for an outside, right side door handle for an 87 XJ? My only...

I've got some power window motors/ bracketry from a 1993 XJ, and I'd like to powerize the rear windows on my 1987 XJ. The 93 components have screws on them, while the 87 stuff is rivited on. I'd like to know if the holes will match up before I drill out the rivits. I was able to make the rear...

    Headlight problem

I have a problem with the headlights on my 87 XJ. The lo beams do not turn on, however the high beams do when the switch is clicked. I tried a new dimmer switch and this did not solve the problem. There's no fuse under the dash marked as headlamps so I do not know if that is the problem. Help!

    First 4.0L

So does anyone know where I could find information about the first XJ that came with a 4.0L engine? Serial number, pics, ect. I've got a picture of the last one, just need to know more about the first one. You know, it'd be cool if I owned it :)

    ignition keyswitch

Well I was working on hotwireing my jeep, and discovered something confusing in the FSM. Apparently when the key is in the start position, it grounds the parking brake light and the temp sender. Is there any real reason these need to be grounded while starting or does it just to turn the red...

    FREE high-mile AW4 and NV242 in IL

I have a AW4 trans and a NV 242 transfer case from an '87. They both have about 211,000 miles on them, they both worked when removed, but are probably due for a rebuild. I live in central IL, near Champaign. If you can come pick them up, you can have them FREE. I'll deliver somewhere in IL...

    CVT

One of the new 07 "Jeeps" on the Jeep website says it has a continuously variable transaxle, with infinate gear ratios. What's that? Are we talking like analog shifting, so there's no definate 1st, 2nd, 3rd??? how does that work, why don't all cars have it, and how would this be available with...

rear doorframe vents - where to buy

In the rear doorframes there's little plastic vents, does anyone know where I can order these? I can't find them on quadratec. I modified one from a parts jeep to make an air inlet on my fender(removed the one-way 'valve', and cut off the pointy end), and now I want some more to put vents in...

    Stock CD/tape player question

I'm installing subs in my dad's 01. He has the "nice" stock headunit, the one with CD and tape decks, a 3-band eq and a little joystick thingie for pan/fade. (pretty nifty if you ask me) Does this unit have pre-outs on the back? I don't want to tear into his dash if there's not. I have a...

    01 stock stereo

Ok my dad wants my old subs, so I'll be installing them soon. His jeep is an 01, and he has the 'nice' stock head unit - it's the one with cd and tape, it's got the 3-band eq and a little joystick thingie for panning. Does anyone know if this unit has preouts on it? I already have a line out...

    E85

So I read it's technically illegal to convert a vehicle to run on this 85% ethanol stuff. So anyways, how would one go about doing this? Stainless tanks and lines? what happens if one's "conversion" is simply filling up with the stuff? will it not run right or will it explode? it's 105...

    Engine Oil Cooler Question

How exactly does an engine oil cooler hook up to oil flow? I'm guessing it involves some sort of machiened donut that goes below the oil filer? I'm using a larger oil filter don't know if that would fit or not. I'm guessing filter relocation is what I should be looking at?

    Scoop or Cowl?

Have Guages, Will Solder - fuel guage issue

I'm working on hooking up High-Line guages from a 93, into an 87 that had standard (big fuel) guages. Engine and sensors are from the 93, wire harness is 90% 87. So I'm splicing wires and I find that the fuel guage seems to be reading backwards? OK so what can I do, can I swap the sensor...
