Hey guys... Finally getting ready to install CC on my '98 XJ. I got the clockspring and switches out of a '98, but the servo was in a box of Jeep parts I picked up from a different guy. Looking at the servo, it looks brand new, and is Mopar #53009315. It looks exactly like it is supposed...
I wouldn't use a puller or press from Harbor Freight. They just can't stand the strain and you could be injured when they fail. Rent a decent TRE remover from the parts store, or invest in a quality one like OTC.

It's your slip yoke. It has dried out and is sticking instead of slipping like it's supposed to. I just had to grease mine on my '98. Very easy to do.

My 98 didn't come with any manuals either. A quick visit to ebay got me an owners manual and a whole set of service manuals.

Did any of the 1991+ XJs come with cruise control but not PWs and PLs? I am looking for the reliability of manual windows and locks but I often drive long distances where CC is a blessing.
I'm guessing that it was all one package though as I don't think I've ever seen an XJ that had one but...
It sounds as if it is getting condensation buildup somewhere that is shorting things, rather than a temp thing necessarily. Once the sun dries it out it works ok. Is the fuel pump the only thing not running when this happens? Or do other systems not come on either (like warning lights, blower...
