I used a similar smoke machine to fine a leak on my old '01 XJ... I though it was leaking were the header flange bolted to the head... wrong, it was were the 2 header collectors connected to the pre-cats. Could see where the smoke was coming from after stuffing the smoke machine in the tailpipe...
I've had MORE and Brown Dog motor mounts... both eventually blew out on me on my DD, barely trailed 01XJ. Finally went with the https://www.stinkyfab.com/collections/xj-drivetrain motor and ATF mounts. I like them better than the previous and w/the easily replaceable bushing (if ever needed)...
So I changed the oil a couple days ago.. went w/Rotella T5 15W-40 and Wix 51515XP. Pressure was better at cold start up but it's still falling to the ~ 10-12 psi when hot and after continued stop-go traffic... and even having cool temps outside 60 degrees.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a...
Thanks guys... and I don't know if I mentioned... but it runs just fine. No rod knock, lifter knock, rocker arm knock/tick that I can hear. Just the usual vibrations and rattles from HD Engine and Transmission mounts and the usual LCA/UCA's and such. Been thinking of running 15W-40 so I may...
I wanted to start my own thread about this and get some input. I've posted a couple bits of info tagging along on the end of this thread: https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?p=246711918#post246711918
So my '01 XJ, 4.0 Auto has the typical low hot oil pressure. Currently has 181K...
I have ran BG Oil treatment with the last 2 oil changes (including current one) and have another 3K to go before I'm due another change. Think next go around I will go up in Viscosity. Probably add some oil treatment too. Hopefully I still have a few years left on this 182K mile 4.0.
Picked up a set of mechanical gauges at the Chinese tools shop... Maddux brand w/all the bits and pieces needed. Hooked them up and it was reading a solid 15 psi right after I removed my Oil Pressure Sensor that was showing ~ 9 psi on my dash gauge. Revving the engine up to ~ 2000 rpms and the...
My '01 had the 0331 Cylinder head crack ~ 70K miles back. Has been replaced but the bottom end was not rebuilt. Chances are my bearings are finally toast, but at this point the Oil pressure starts fine ~ 45 then drops to nearly 0 when the XJ warms up at idle. Going to hook up a mechanical...
Did the OP ever figure out what was the issue? I'm going to pick up a mechanical gauge tonight myself to see if my Sensor is bad on my '01 XJ where the Oil Pressures just started dropping to near 0 at hot idle... just wanted to verify the actual pressure before diving in deeper.
Not really ... I don't recall how long it is, but not very. It has a couple securing "T"s at each end that slip over their nesting place. One of those "T"s broke on mine... Release the tension on one end and then they slip off. If you see it you'll know what I mean. Assuming your "01" has...
You mentioned buying a gun in your first post... maybe (if you don't already do this) buy a bunch of parts and start "building" AR's... or a PCC Truck gun? Building AR's is as much fun as building XJ's.... :) Part of the "fun" is shopping, ordering parts when available, and then getting...
I'm trying to track down a full Old Man Emu Suspension for my 2001 XJ. Don't want a lot of lift... say 1.5-3" max. I'm just having a hard time finding it online for the XJ.
My '01 has 179K on the OE suspension (less new shocks from several years back) so I'm looking for the entire kit...
Very nice!! Love the Double Din Head Unit install. I've been thinking of doing this ever since I saw Metra was making the DD kits for our XJ's.
One of the things I really LOVE about my wive's Subaru Outback is the XM radio and having a LARGE Map to guide you around side streets and other...
