    Complete 98 4.0 and manual transmission ECU/harness

I've got a 4.0 I pulled from my 98 that I need out of the garage. It's got about 200k on it. I'm including the 136a alternator and modified bracket. It's also got a Melling high volume pump that I put in 40k ago. I'm also including the engine harness, fusebox, starter, and manual transmission...

    Condenser thread cutting nut size

Hey! I lost one of the thread cutting nuts that attaches the condenser to the radiator. My research shows that its Mopar 6100814 which is out of production, and points to a m6 nut but I'm not sure I believe it. Does anyone happen to know what size it is?

    Track bar choices

My track bar has started popping. I currently have a JKS that I got from DPG with the rest of my lift. The bracket is wallowed out at the point the track bar bolts to the bracket. Simple enough to fix, right? New bracket and crush washer. That got me thinking, my track bar is only good for 3.5"...

    NP242 rebuild with upgrades

I am in the process of rebuilding a NP242. One think led to another, and I went from a hack and tap to buying a Tom Woods insane 32 spline super duper main shaft, so I figured, "what the heck, lets see if I can also do the 1.25" chain too!". I picked up a cheap NP242D out of a dorango today to...

231 to 242 swap: are there driveshaft length differences?

My 231 is starting to get chain slap at low speeds, and I have a 242 that I've been thinking of swapping in. Does anyone know if there is a difference in case length that would require a new rear shaft? I currently have a Rubicon express H/T SYE and if I need a new shaft, I really like the tom...

Wanted: Late model in good condition

My wife's 98 took a head on impact this afternoon, so it looks like I'm in the market for another. Does anyone have a late model for a reasonable amount?

My wife really wants a TJM bumper. If you have one, and no longer want/need it let me know. Why did she have to pick a unicorn of a bumper...

    El Dorado calipers

I have a set of El Dorado calipers, 7" hole to hole, complete with e-brake spring. I am tired of tripping over them in my garage, and should be a good match for a 1 ton axle. RuffStuff makes a nice looking bracket for a bunch of axles including the ford 9" That being said... I don't know what...

    OEM Lock set?

I am in the market for a complete set of keyed alike locks for my Cherokee. I found a set of door locks keyed alike on RockAuto, but I am looking for the hatch, ignition, and the doors. Standard Motor Products DL41 is the hatch and DL127 is the doors, but it is safe to assume they would be keyed...

    John's 98 Build Thread

Hi! I’m John, and this is my second Cherokee which will be an expedition style build for hunting and camping. I have really enjoyed reading build threads, and I have learned a lot from them, but I don’t have one. Let me start off by introducing my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport, McSquizzy. It has the...

    Airline recommendations

I just finished reinstalling my ARB CKMTA12 compressor under my hood, and got down to doing a leak down test and found that all of my cheap harbor freight air hose to the back of my Jeep where my air tank is had dry rotted. I had run my air hose along the brake and fuel lines on the left frame...

    Regear questions with an AX15

In fear of being flamed: I have searched... and not found what I am looking for. I have 31" tires on my 3.07 gears. I really do not like the drop in power I have experienced from factory, and I really would like to get back to a more factory-like power level. My math (linear scaling is around...

to paint or not to paint?

I recently bought a 98 Sport to replace my 92 Laredo. I kind of want to do everything on this one so that it is a 'sleeper' or is moderately modified. It gets 21-22 on the interstate, and rides quiet and smooth. The trim on it is pathetically oxidized and until I spent a bit on Ebay a bunch was...

How to replace early XJ AC control sliders with 97+ dials

So I got tired of fumbling with my sliders on my jeep and decided it was time to replace them with something a bit more modern. While I was in a JY looking for a 98 TCU I spotted a set of AC Controls in a 97 that had a mechanically actuated blend door. Without delay, I snagged the knob set and...

    Torque converter lockup intermittent aw4

So I was driving down the interstate on my way to class this afternoon, and noticed my RPM's seemed a tad high. I tapped the gas to see if maybe I was stuck in a gear or something, but then the RPM's dropped. The lockup kicked back in. 5 Seconds later, back outta lockup. Tap the gas, same story...

    92 xj with a 98 AW4 and 98 NP321

Ok, so I blew my tranny and could only find a 98 transmission at an affordable price in my area. I got it in and running, but when I went to put the original 92 drive shaft on and found out that the 92 drive shaft seems a bit long. I don't have the money for a hack and tap with a custom drive...
