Thanks for viewing this build. Trying to keep this survivor a "Day 2" build like was done at dealership when new. Most of my NOS goodies come from my contacts that bought out Jeep dealership inventories, but this Type ! XJ brush guard popped up on FB. I've been looking for nice used one, for...

Well crud, put Currie Correct Link steering on and it's rubbing axle mounted sway bar tabs. Guess I need either run ZJ steering, clearance sway bar mount, or weld on raised tabs. Never ends :)

The 87 XJ rear bumper has holes with plastic plugs that was meant for the light duty trailer hitch. Found a NOS OEM rear bumper. Will have weld on spare tire carrier reinforcement bracket and cut rectangle hole for tire carrier latch. Another step closer [/IMG]

In college circa 1988 a friend of mine had a new 2 door Blue XJ Chief. It had factory spare tire carrier and was coolest new vehicle of that time era. So I got this, rust free one from desert, my favorite early style with X brace: Still on fence about installing, but I've about decided...

2 door Cherokee 01 with 25,000 miles... mild build for daughters first Jeep

Well Rock Auto sent one e-coated black drum and one bare drum. So sent back & they sent another bare drum. Finally got the other one from Amazon. While I was waiting on parts, I noticed a very slight seepage from passenger wheel seal. She's only put around 3K miles so would surely get worse...

2 door Cherokee 01 with 25,000 miles... mild build for daughters first Jeep

My daughter was asking me about rails to protect from parking lot door dings. Time to :geek: hunt some up and see what looks good or not.

2 door Cherokee 01 with 25,000 miles... mild build for daughters first Jeep

Moved front axle forward to 17" lower control arm length. With 4.5" lift that perfectly centered the tire and wheel well and no rubbing on anything with springs removed. Did need 1.25 wheel spacers to keep tire away from sway bar links. Since it needs alignment, decided to install Currie...

Got gas skid and correct early style receiver hitch mounted up without a scratch :) Don't think can mount the rear tow hook bracket with receiver hitch :( Ralph77, the brass colored (chromate) bracket is a reinforcing backup plate for the early style hitch. Next up is removing the rear cargo...

Got the 32 BFG A/T mounted up to NOS Jeep Special Equipment 15x8 Chrome wheels. Road force balanced and nitrogen filled. Daughter decided to do white letters in. Going to have move front axle forward or lose the front molded splash guards. 31 just didn’t quite fill the wheel wells with 4.5...

Always a good idea to let water drain. Got rear bumper pulled yesterday and paint looks minty. Thinking about adding NOS pair of bumper guards but not sure exactly where are supposed to be located.
