Actually it is located on the stalk in many older XJs. I had to replace mine about a year ago (i think I used the switch from a '93?). Not sure about a '96 though, you're probably right...
Thanks guys but If the tank doesn't leak I'm pretty sure I'm putting it back on. Its not the cost factor I'm too worried about, just the time factor. Pulling the tank really wasn't a big deal and if it doesn't leak tommorow and I can find some hanger bolts (will check the local Auto Value)...
Tank on my '87 XJ started leaking bad lately and pulled it tonight to find that it had quite a few pinhole leaks in it (from rust) Tank is only rusted where the straps are to hold it up. I know a guy who used JB-weld on his F250's tank and said its holding up fine. Good temporary fix? I have...
I've got a similar clunk too. Pretty sure my Trans mount is shot. How much do they run at a parts store? Can you even get them there or is it a stealership thing?
Teh heh
This post caused me to be without tail-lights, parking-lights, and instrument lights for 2 days along with about 3 hrs of labor and 10+ blown 10W fuses! Read it and thought I'd go out and try to "fix" my rear wiper sprayer, I got it to work, but later on lost the lights because of a...
My '87 with 172K is mostly a DD with occasional trail use. I bought it as a smashed up stocker a couple years ago - 31's and 5" lift on stock gears that need to be upgraded, homeade front bump, extra lights, D44, and some other junk. I don't usually have time to wheel but I usually go all out...
Simply unbolting your + battery cable at the soleniod and bolting it directly to the starter motor terminal on the starter soleniod should get the starter to jump when 12V are applied correct??
I think my starter finally kicked the bucket today. Nothing happens at all when I try jumping it...
Renix XJs cruise sensitivity can be adjusted by the yellow box under the dash below the steering wheel... I've never messed with mine so I couldn't tell you exactly how to do it.
Really depends on how much lift you are looking to get? I bought a new set of S-10 leafs to do my rear packs and only used the longest leaves and left out the fat over load and the next bigger one. Also reused a couple of my xj leaves and got a good 5+" of lift. Rides firm, no need for the...
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58606 can anyone tell me why a post I made asking about a muffler get moved from Modified Tech to the classifieds? I made this post to:
1. ask about the quality of a product
2. ask if the company that sold the product had any other good xj stuff so I...
Heads up for anybody looking for a muffler: Jegs has a special on these mufflers http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=253217&prmenbr=361 Only $30, $40 after handling. I believe they are chambered. Anyone know anything about them or ever heard one on a 4.0L? I'm pretty...
Back to the top. I just beat the crap out of mine today using a chisel to get hubs off. I don't really want to put them back on. I have another set but they are rusty. Anyone else taken them off or have anything to add? Negative effects?
Hmmm... I'm still open at both ends running 31's for the time being and would like to add an auto locker (just one for now) but have a D44 rear rather than a 35. For a D35 rear the logical choice does seem to point to a front D30 locker but what about my situation? XJ is my DD and sees lots of...
Thanks guys.
Are you talking about the 4x4 service one (Like $60 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=4065) as opposed to the $20 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38335unit on sale now? I was planning on buying the $20 unit but if its...
I will be needing to replace both front U-joints in the junkyard axle I recently swapped in to my XJ soon and I might do the balljoints while I'm at it. U-joints and shafts will probably come from my old axle so I will need to remove 4 hubs...Only problem is I don't have a socket that fits the...
Upon startup of my '87 Renix the oil pressure guage will read about 50psi or so then it seems to slowly and steadily drop after driving. After around 15 min or so it will read just above 0, About 5-10psi or so? (but always seem to have some pressure) It does leak a little oil from just about...
