'90 XJ Stalled now wont turnover

Ok, as promised here's the follow up. I tried all of the "tricks" I was able to find here. Nothing worked. After talking to a few people I realized that the spark that I was getting was intermittent and weak to boot. The haynes book said distributor cap/rotor or wireset - tested both and both...

'90 XJ Stalled now wont turnover

Sorry for the reply to myself. I had done a search on this prior to posting but didn't pull anything up. When I did the google search I found a few things to try. Again, thanks in advance for anyone with extra tips, and sorry for the as of yet, duplicate post. Thanks Holy_Handgrenade...

'90 XJ Stalled now wont turnover

I was in traffic the other day - and I stalled because I forgot to place it in the right gear (trucks tend to not like it if you start in 5th gear). As soon as it died, I tried to start it back up - and nothing. It will crank forever but will not turnover to startup. Now, I've checked the...

    Calling anyone in Phoenix AZ!!

To be honest, not entirely sure I understand everyting correctly. But - he used a right angle drill attachment to drill the bolts out, apparently, when the bolts sheared the threads were damaged, so they retapped them and put new bolts in. Which was also the reason the ezout sheared in the...

O2 Sensor wiring - Parts and manual conflict

I'm needing to replace an old and presumed dead O2 sensor. I bout the "cheap" part requiring that I splice the wire to the existing OEM harness plug. One problem though, the part that Bosch says is for my vehicle only has one wire coming out of it and the part that's on my vehicle has 3. The...

    Shakes around 45 MPH...

Sorry for using wrong terminology - mine ended up by developing into the death wobble (shaking so violently I couldn't see straight). But I have had the same issue, I know exactly whats wrong on mine, but have not been able to fix it as of yet, so untill then I just monitor my speed. Just some...

    Shakes around 45 MPH...

That would be the "death wobble" if you do a search you can find a ton of different answers for causes of this. In my case, it's due to bad ball joints and front end being out of alignment. The first thing that you'll want to do is make sure that all your steering/suspension is in good working...

    Calling anyone in Phoenix AZ!!

Desperately need assistance as the motor mount bolts snapped off in the engine block. I have one bolt out, one bolt untouched, and one bolt where the ezout snapped off flush with the bolt. Anyone able or willing to help out in removing these bolts, OR welding on the bracket and have the 2 bolts...

    Broken motor mount bolts

That sounds about right. My truck is fairly old, it's a '90 XJ and I just hit a normal bump in the road that i've hit countless times before. On inspection it seems that the bottom bolt sheared off a while ago based on aging of the sheared bolt, then when the bump hit, the others followed suit...

    broken 4,0 engine mount

Looks like it's not just the 94-97's Mine did the same thing the other day, was driving home at night and hit a rain gutter in the intersection doing the speed limit of 35mph and heard a loud pop which sounded like it was in the back. But was 20 miles from home and other than the fact that I...

Bump in the Road; Possible TCase Slip

I hope I'm describing this correctly. As this part of the truck I have yet to really learn about. Last night on my way home from work, I ended up by hitting a bump in the road (drainage gutter in intersection) and heard a loud and pop come from the rear end and the engine didnt sound *right*...

    emiss maint light

I had the same thing going on when I bought my '90 a year ago. There's a pretty stupid (as to function of device) box up under the dash that sits there as a timer that goes off at ~80,000 to remind you to replace O2 sensor and check on emmissions systems. Because I had to immediately throw it...

    Serious Electrical Gremlins; any suggestions?

I've got a 90' XJ 5spd with what appears to be all the options for power everything. Pwr locks, windows, cruise ctl, etc. About 3 weeks after I got the truck over a year ago now, the clutch master cylinder was leaking and I got it replaced after trying to troubleshoot for 3 weeks about why my...

    Finding interior door panels

You can also find them pretty often on ebay. I've been keeping an eye out because I'd like to update my worn and utterly crappy door panels myself. I've seen them go as cheap as $125 for 4 door panels and avg about $200 for 4 door panels

Why do new 4.0's die sooner?

Well from what I've been able to gather, the older Renix 4.0's last longer because they have a higher nickel content in the metal making the engine more resistant to warping and wear. The newer HO engines by Chrysler have a lower nickel content making them slightly more prone to damage due to...

Fuel Pump Swap - Installation Problems

Thanks for all the info guys. I took the pump back and napa put the right one in my hands. Where did you get the lock-ring thing, everywhere I try and talk to about it has been, "go to the dealer", "go to the junkyard" or "you need a new gas tank" kinda stuff. Mone of these guys are even...
