This isn't advanced fab, but I thought you all would have a bit more experience with this suspension question. I'm considering a leaf slider to replace the shackles. Anyone have experience or thoughts on this? Pros, cons?
I have a water leak thats coming through the cowling (wiper area) and puddling on the drivers side floorboard. Does anyone know why the cowling is slotted? I'm thinking of just covering it to keep the rain out.
96 4.0L. Been working through an overheating problem. I took the thermostat off to replace it and no coolant spilled out. That cavern was totally empty behind the thermostat. Is that normal? I kinda expected coolant to spill out. The overflow tank is at the right level too.
thanks,
tim
Do any of you know of a place near renton where I could run up on a ramp to check my articulation.....like an rti ramp. I want to do some suspension travel measurements. I tried using floor jacks and it's a pain.
thanks,

The 4.0 started running a little hot, 240 degrees at idle, but was fine at speed. I read through posts on this site an have concluded it's the fan clutch, so I bought an oem from newmoparparts.com and it's on its way.
In the meantime I continued to drive the jeep. Then it started getting...
Is there a best case scenerio for static ride height relative to the shocks? What is the optimum as a percentage of compression vs droop? For example, at static ride height is it preferred to have 30% compression travel and 70% for droop, or 50/50, or what?
For you stereo electronic gurus. I installed a Cobra 5 channel amplifier and I'm hearing significant engine noise and there's also a loud pop when I change the channels. I believe it's engine noise because as I accelerate the tone of the noise changes.
The power is hooked directly to the...
Here's is a blurb from the jeep jamboree coming up July 7-10 in the Naches area. I'm participating in the jamboree and want to attempt the shoestring trail. However, I noticed it's "definitely not recommended for cherokee sized vehichles." (see below). Have any of you XJ'ers taken this trail...
I'm replacing my rear shock mounts tomorrow. Which is better with regards to binding – the original post style that is perpendicular to the axle, or change to a post that runs parallel with the axle?
I put in a 4* shim to adjust my pinion angle. This rotated the axle shock mount posts putting the shocks in a slight bind.
Will this cause my shocks to wear faster?
I've found two ways to modify the lower shock mounts. One (org922) maintains the original post style where the post is...
