    Tire Choice LT or P

For the spare? It keeps the hatch from rattling…. For the rest, not really for how I use it. It could probably use a little trimming in hidden areas or slightly extended bump stops, which are cheap and easy.

Please Check my Axel Shafts..What do you think?

Those are emergency spares. Are they from 1985 with the small u-joints anyway?

    Tire Choice LT or P

A worn 245/75r16 just barely fits in the stock spare area with an extended bolt.

    Tire Choice LT or P

Funny, I have a BDS 3” on my 1989 Wagoneer. With 16s it seems most tires with AT or MT tread are going to be load range E, stiff and heavy. I do have 245/75R16 because I got hooked up with old TJ Rubicon wheels. I’d get LT tires or load range C (or higher).

    Specific Moab Wheel On XJ

Measure the wheels that you have and get spacers that are long enough for the hub studs to not bottom out on the back face of the wheel, and try for somewhere around 4.25”-5.25” net backspacing (wheel BS minus adapter thickness).

    Wheelbase adjustment issue

Have you checked with a non-movable point like the center of the lower ball joint, to eliminate any variation caused by the wheels being less than straight? It will not be the same 101.3” nominal factory wheelbase but it would be consistent.

    Wheelbase adjustment issue

You wrote before that you are measuring on the floor, with strings. What are your reference points on the tires, hubs, or axles?

    Wheelbase adjustment issue

What is the center to center length on the arm as installed on each side?

    Wheelbase adjustment issue

For clarity, is your wheelbase short or long? Or one of each?

I can't believe my battery still works

My August 2022 Costco battery crapped out over the winter. Similar short little 5 minute local roads drives, then sat from the beginning of December through the new year and it wouldn’t even click the relays. I gave it a good charge last week and it seems to be back. I am trying to make it a...

    AJs Offroad Armor

@XJ_ranger and I were just wondering last weekend if AJ’s armor is still in business as the website still shows ~2018 prices for rock rails. Excited to see what you find out.

    Gotta bitch for a minute

I showed up one time with like $200 instead of $500 to buy some used tires from EricsXJ in Reno because I didn’t realize that’s all the ATM would give me until I was already on the road. But at least I had that much and had known him for a couple years already. Mailed a check a few days later.

    Rubicon on 33s?

We are going over Independence Day and camping at Loon Lake Northshore. We could do a/some day runs. I’d love to get some legit weekend runs in too.

    Old Girl

How did you fix/improve the windows? I ordered a new window motor from rockauto but the existing one (1989) is riveted in and I did not feel ready to drill them. And did you do the “Greg Smith” door lock relay upgrade or something else?

    Frank Raines February

So I have an open weekend coming up and I asked my little wheeling buddy if she wanted to go back to Frank Raines or try exploring Stonyford and could barely finish the question before she shouted “Frank Raines!” So we’re headed back next weekend. We will have the buggy, toyhauler, and RC...
