96 Cherokee Sport 242 Manual 4x4
Took out the headliner and last night and the radio wouldn't work. I figured it had to be something with the dome lights not being installed. Replaced the headliner today and reinstalled everything, still no dome lights or radio.
All fuses are good, #2 is the...
Nothing wrong with the pedal assembly, it moves freely when disengaged from the master. I replaced the master and slave as an assembly. I still have the same problem. Thoughts?
It is an external slave. I looked briefly at the pedal assembly earlier but will again more thoroughly. Unfortunatly I have a Hanes not a FSM, but the installation instructions on the new slave look like they will remove the bubbles from the swap.
I have a 96 4x4 5 speed, 190k. Driving to work today and suddenly the clutch pedal goes almost to the floor before it begins to engage. Maybe an inch or two of resistance and very difficult to shift, clutch pedal stays about two inches from the floor when released.
Moments later I can’t...
I got different part numbers from Advance so I bought a new one. Checked by unplugging the old one and cycling the ignition, CEL came on. Replaced it and problem solved. Thanks to all!
Correction - I will check compatibility of crank sensors and either pull it or get a new one, after the ballast resistor if verified to not be the problem.
Fuel pump was bought new - just the pump, they didn't have the assembly in stock.
PCM was from a 96 Sport I6, same as mine except it was an automatic. My 96 has an unperformed E22 recall. Figured I could get the dealer to re-flash the junkyard PCM for free if it ended up being the culprit...
Yes gentlemen. My apologies and thanks.
1996 4x4 I6
I searched before I posted and my next step was the crank sensor. I have a 94 I can have been cannibalizing parts from that I can get from.
I threw the fuel pump at it because I was leaving for the beach the next day and was going to haul a...
Driving and the jeep just died, drifted into an Advance Auto next to a Mechanic shop - convenient.
Jeep cranks, will not start.
No fuel pressure - replaced fuel pump - nothing
Swapped the relays to check pump relay - nothing
Jumped power from relay directly to pump - pump ok
Went on...
Thanks for the advice. All three passenger side engine mount bracket bolts sheared off at the block. Bought an easy-out but its tight in there, two not so bad but no clue how to drill the third, any suggestions? looks like Ill be working for my 4th.
Thanks Joe, I will do that. It sounds, at least in first gear like something is not meshing up. I noticed I have a loose engine mount bolt as well and we found a piece of a plastic shroud, looks like from the fan cover, that was on the ground by the speed bumps. Don't know if that helps with...
I hurried through a gated community letting my girlfriend follow behind befor the gate closed, went over two speed bumps a little quick. Heard something go badly. Now I get a fair amount of noise in at least the first two forward gears and cant get it into 5th or reverse. The stick shift moves...
I did just run it down to my budies shop (used to live here) and the dash meter read just under 14v the whole way, about 10 miles. Was reading around 9 when I drove it earlier today. WTF
