Ok, found an aftermarket supplier for these at manualtransmission.net (aka Man-Trans LLC). They had good used ones for $35 and new ones for $55. I had them next day air me a new one including new seal and rtv for $82. Should get here tomorrow.
Sure beats pulling a tranny at the jyard in this...
Thanks again for the great info
No yards around me have any Jeeps with AX-15s, just empty holes where they should be... :tears:
Best I could find OEM was $220 shipped for the FBR... More than I paid for the trans and t-case. Can you recall those aftermarket sources?
I've never...
Hi 5-90, Thank you for the reply! (and thanks again for the top notch Cables and Customer Support!)
I did not swap a throwout bearing retainer.... I did not see one when I pulled the external slave bellhousing at the junkyard. The input shaft was larger on the '95, but I didn't see anything...
Hi All, I'm stumped and need help to get my MJ back on the road!
Ok, here is what I installed in my 88 MJ 4.0L:
-'95 XJ External Slave Bellhousing mated to a '90 AX-15 (same size input shaft and pilot bearing as the Ba-10), using a mopar '95 XJ one piece pre-bled plastic master/slave...
Are these ok to use in my stock '88 4.0?

They say they fit '87-'95 4.0, but lbs/hr Renix-HO is different???
Searched, but only found info on airbag to non, or OEM to aftermarket.
1988 MJ Tilt steering column.
I swapped my worn out/oozing '88 rubber OEM three spoke steering wheel for a nice leather '91 Country/Limited two spoke with full pad in matching color cheap off of ebay.
When I pulled the...
The pics I took are at full droop, wheels off. At full droop they do contact slightly (scuffs the paint off, but no structural damage). But the WJ Lower arms are contacting the axle side shock mount at this point too. The upper arm is not the limiting factor here.
A slight grinding of the...
Got em installed...
I've got to say this upgrade has made a significant improvement in the way the truck steers and handles on the road. The is no more play in the steering wheel before the steering reacts, it is instantaneous (original steering box). Just minute movements of the wheel and it...
It takes a 1" socket. Heh, and it was fun figuring that out in the junkyard, suggest you have a nice long breaker bar too as that sucker was TIGHT...
I pulled mine from a '91 XJ which FAIK, was the crossover year before it went to horizonal mount, yet still takes the 3/4 x 16 threaded filters...
LMAO...:laugh3:
Well, ran into a problem further into the install.... Eye to Eye length is NOT exactly the same. The WJ arm is about 1/4" shorter. I was going nuts trying to get the bolts in. Finally took it out and re-measured and found it was slightly shorter. Not sure if that would make...
Thanks for the reply.
Actually, I have one side installed and encountered the same problem, but I didn't cut the arm, at least on my MJ, I was able to cut (dremel) a 1/2" by 1.5" section of stamped sheet metal that is in the way directy below the body bracket on the inboard side to...
Hi All,
I'm in the process of doing my 4x4 conversion and am beefing up the front end. Don't have any plans for a big lift, maybe 3" max if at all. So far I have a 97 D30 installed, ZJ V8 Tie rod and sway bar and WJ Lower control arms.
I also swiped the WJ Upper Control arms (fully boxed)...
I would say put the bolt back in on the left side and leave the castle nut off on the right, then get in the Jeep and turn the wheel.
EDIT: Oops don't do that (my memory is wrong). Sorry someone should be able to help.
I just got through tracing the fuel vapor recovery system/canister all the way to the tank and there are no electronics involved. There is a hard line from the firewall to the tank area, it runs alongside the fuel and brake lines on the driverside "frame".
My hoses are in pretty bad shape...
