    No start after overheating

Check out the cap and rotor - might be full of coolant. Had this happen on an old Crown Vic after I blew a radiator hose. Dried out the cap and rotor and was on my way with a new hose ;) Good luck

    21 Spline 242 T-case from '90 XJ 4.0 Auto

This is a 21 spline NP 242 J Transfer Case from my 1990 XJ. This mounts directly to an automatic. I'm selling this as parts, even though I ran it for a few years. It leaks, though not from the seals - Never messed with it much to figure out where it was leaking from. I figured someone might go...

    lockup not working

Okay guys. I should have done this test first thing. It would have shown my TCU Is fine, and all things associated with it (like the damn brake switch, TPS, etc, etc) I tapped C14, and connected it to a multimeter. I drove down the road, and when it should have gone into lockup, i got 13.8v...

    lockup not working

I underand that.. I meant more along the lines of the same work was involved whether i used the old transmission or the new one.

    lockup not working

Yeah, I know. No i don't have the capabilities to measure the pressure. i'm gunna try to jump the wire and see if it will lockup. If it does, i know it's electrical, before the transmission. If it doesn't lockup - Bad Torque converter or something = New Tranny. I'll post results of that test as...

Consistant like regular. "Beep, Beep Beep Beep" Not constant.

    lockup not working

The good news is, the sensor tests fine. Backing down the driveway, the continuity meter beeped consistantly. no problem. So, i've tested the brake switch. The TCU Gets almost 12v when the brake is depressed (so the resister pack is okay). I've verified voltage on all 12v inputs (from the...

    lockup not working

i'll jack the back up and test the speed sensor as soon as i can. Where is it? I looked, and the only possible thing i saw, that was at the rear of the transmission, was a thing with 1 wire coming out of it, just behind the bracket the holds the t-case linkage pivot thingy. If that's it, i...

    lockup not working

Okay. Tested C10 - Getting almost 12v when the brake is depressed. If it was the resistor pack, it wouldn't have gotten anything. I tested this on my Wifes XJ, almost 12v (11.75v). This morning, I went on a test drive. The jeep didn't want to shift out of 1 into 2. and then again it hesitated...

    lockup not working

Wouldn't I have other problems associated with this? -Nick

    lockup not working

Yes, only a few ohms when the brake pedal is not depressed. I'm thinking 3.4ohms. Any idea where i can get that speed sensor or where it's at on the transmission? It's a '90 AW4, so it's got a Speedo Cable. Thanks -Nick

    lockup not working

Thanks, but lets get the problem fixed first. I really thought this problem was going to be the brake switch, or TPS. Is there a relay somewhere that could have gone bad?! -Nick

    lockup not working

Okay, here goes: All solenoids tested the same resistance. The brake switch tested okay. Infinate resistance when pedal is depressed. I reajusted the LV cable (it adjusted to where it was previously at) I readjusted the TPS before. Measured the 3 pin connector, and got around 3.5k ohms - i...

    lockup not working

Consider this thread stolen :) I don't want to start a new one, unless no one responds to this one ;) I went outside to check my TPS, and adjusted it. It was way out (96%), so i put it at 83%. (4.70 supply, 3.9v signal). I then played with the trottle plate, and it moved very smoothly. I don't...

    lockup not working

I'm having the exact problem on my '90xj. Just noticed it today on the highway. Checked the fuses, and pushed the switch back into it's holder (it was loose). No dice. I'm wondering if that switch is bad, because I don't have cruise control anymore as well. Coincidence? How did you test at the...

    parking brake change?

Sorry for bringing up an old message - maybe you guys have looked at it and seen. I'm wondering if i can convert my handle to the pedal.. I am an amateur operator, and that would free up a nice spot for my 3 radios. How the heck did the police get their radios, etc in there?! I haven't been...

    Rubbing noise after 2" lift

Definately check the vent tube from the front diff. This happened to me, and i thought my tire was rubbing, then thought my bearings were going...I had a 3" hole along the rubber tube from the driveshaft Ujoint rubbing it. To check bearings, jack up the tire off the ground. Wiggle the tire back...

what are your favorite cheap tires?

I just got the 30x9.50 Mud Retreads from Hi-Tec, and use them on my DD. I paid $40 to get the mounted and balanced, and they had NO PROBLEM AT ALL. If there is a problem, i've heard multiple people say they sent out a new tire right away. For the Price, Retreads are a great deal. I would only...
