    Problem with ebay purchase

You can file with either eBay or Paypal, just not both at the same time. You can start with Paypal if you wish. Most sellers are finding that they are having their incoming Paypal funds held for up to 21 days just in case there is a problem and a refund is required - the hold can be released...

    Problem with ebay purchase

You can only file a complaint with eBay *or* Paypal, not both. I've heard stories of people who filed with both and both complaints get dropped - and they're not able to re-file.

Throwing codes after Transmission swap (No Start)

Do the auto transmission and manual transmission XJs use different engine control computers? That might cause no-start problems after a transmission swap.

    cruize control

IIRC, I paid about $15 for the switches that go on the steering wheel (eBay), about $20 for the clockspring, and $25 for the vacuum throttle actuator (both of those from the junkyard). I had a spare lamp for the dashboard cruise indicator already, so I didn't need to worry about that at all...

    cruize control

You can get the parts for the factory cruise fairly cheaply on eBay or from the boneyard. All the wiring is already there. (That's the way I did it for my '98.)

    Home made fog machine

The big problem with using the 'juice' type smoke machines is the smell - the juice they use is either oil based or glycol based, which can smell bad and leave a residue. I just built a dry ice fog machine, which looks an awful lot like the picture rockclimber posted. I started with a new 20...

    1996 Factory Service Manual

It's the official Chrysler service manual for the '96 model year Cherokee - everything you ever wanted to know about the Jeep (and then some). *Way* more complete than a Haynes manual ever thought of being...

    1996 Factory Service Manual

Since I no longer have the '96, there is no reason to keep the FSM. This is the official Factory Service Manual for the 1996 Cherokee (the big purple book). First $50 takes it, free shipping anywhere in the U.S. PM djinn on NAXJA.

    1996 Cherokee - Warrenville Illinois

It's got the Chrysler 8.25 rear end (27 spline, I believe). The front driver's side floor pan is gone from the u-channel to the rocker panel, the front passenger side has a couple of large holes in it (it's not as bad as the driver's side).

    Some People's Kids...

I did that on my '96 Cherokee, and will do it on the '98. The headlight brightener and fog light relays/fuses all went in the PDC. Really easy, and it looks like a factory install...

What a difference a starter makes...

The Interstate was $129, while the Optima was $169. The Interstate was the equivalent of the red top - I didn't see a yellow top equivalent. They did have a blue top equivalent, but I didn't want that.

Explain Headlight Wiring Upgrades To Me...

I built my own. I noticed that there were empty spots in the underhood Power Distribution Center, so I went to the local pick-n-pull and stripped out the parts from a couple of PDCs in the XJs on the lot. I put the relays and fuses in the PDC, and ran the wires to the appropriate places...

What a difference a starter makes...

My '96 XJ has always taken 3 or more seconds to fire up after turning the key. It has done this as long as I have had it - I bought it used in 2000. A couple of years ago, it got even more sluggish, taking 5 or more seconds to fire up. I replaced the battery, and things got better, but it...

Does this smell bad to anyone?

You can always call the issuing bank (listed on the check) to see if it is legit. I have heard of checks bouncing back 1 to 2 months later as bad. Not that any of this matters - it is a classic scam, right down to the wording. Check out www.bustedupcowgirl.com or www.419eater.com for more of...
