    NP242 Sye install question

^awesome. I wondered about that very thing today. So I'm all finished, and now I have vibes at 60+ mph. Just how important is it that the pinion points directly at the transfer case?

    NP242 Sye install question

I'll probably have to cut down the yoke as you guys suggested if I'm to leave the slinger in place. Mounting the yoke further back really isn't an option. I think the 8.8 + flange/yoke adapter push the driveshaft further forward.

    NP242 Sye install question

I have a 2001 with a 242 and am in the process of installing an SYE from Iron Rock Offroad. It is just the yoke that fits the splines, and meant to be used with a stock front driveshaft. For the hack and tap, it looks like I need to cut the shaft so there will be 1.25 inches of splines left. If...

    Help identifying steering knuckles

Wow, lots more good info. Looks like I'll be taking the entire axle shafts, hubs, knuckles from the 01 and putting them in this housing. I read that some come with a seal at the inside and the outside of the passenger side tube, and when I took the cad off today, tons more oil came out so I'm...

    Help identifying steering knuckles

Not trying to prove anyone wrong Breezy, I'm just trying to make what I have do what I want it to do. I would argue the design was ditched due to the fact that the 0.2% difference it made on MPG and driveline wear wasn't worth the extra parts/unreliability of the vacuum system. I'm totally with...

    Help identifying steering knuckles

^Think I just decided I'm gonna swap the whole axle shafts too. The only reason I was just gonna do the fork space shift was if I didn't have to take apart the whole knuckle/hub anyway.

    Help identifying steering knuckles

I've read a good bit about the CAD, and though it's been much argued, it's pretty much a toss up in the strength department as the non-CAD axle's weak point is the passenger side tube, and the CAD axle is beefed up there, as well as has thicker shafts near the disconnect too. I wouldn't bother...

    Help identifying steering knuckles

Thanks guys, but I don't think returning it's going to be an option, it was shipped about 600 miles here, and I can totally see the guy saying it's not his fault somebody put a 91 axle in his 96 XJ before he bought it. Are you saying this looks like a pre 90 XJ knuckle, jeeperjohn? I guess if...

    Help identifying steering knuckles

So... I have a 2001 and want to swap out the front axle for an HPD30 from a earlier model. So I order from a junkyard a front axle that was allegedly from a 96. I know this is incorrect because it has the center axle disconnect. Not a huge problem, I'll just space the fork so it's always locked...

    Tow hooks

Does anyone in the region have a set of 97+ oem tow hooks sitting around? My 2001 already has the oem brackets, but it looks like the hooks themselves were removed.

    Need help with tow hooks

So the previous owner of my 01 xj kept the tow hooks, but left both brackets attached to the frame. Does anyone know if all tow hooks are the same, ie. can I use the generic hooks for a tj with my oem brackets. All I could find on the subject was dummies asking if they could mount tow hooks to...

01 xj check engine light help

I've heard one way to find a vacuum leak is to take a propane torch and trace all the vacuum lines with the engine idling. The idea is the extra fuel from the torch will cause RPM to rise when you hit the leak.

    DANA 30 REAR DIFFERENTIAL RATIO

Also, if you're looking for an 8.25, it won't have ABS. They still used the D35 after 97 for ABS applications.

    01 xj dynomax install question

I have an 01 as well and when I installed my Magnaflow catback, it wanted to hit the right side of the hitch. I had the same rubber loop you're describing, but mine was rotten. I found a similar replacement at the auto parts store that was skinnier, and I only attached to the more outboard of...

    4.0L Motor FS, Cincinnati, $100

Full long block, no oil pan, came out of my 93 Wrangler with 137K miles. It did run when it was removed, but #6 piston has a hole through it. No damage to the block at all, this would be a perfect starting point for a stroker build!

    WTB: Parts for 8.25

So I just picked up a 29 spline 8.25. I'm looking for 4.10 gears, a master install kit, and disc backing plates off either a ZJ or KJ. I'm in Columbus, OH, if anyone has these parts collecting dust and they'd rather have some cash.

Best place to get some WJ Front Lower Control Arms LCA??

I think I'm in the same boat as you, and I was surprised to find Rusty's manufactures tubular lower control arms for the XJ that have a bend in them to clear up to 12.50 wide tires. They have new bushings of course, and best of all are $140 for the pair. Also they can be made whatever length you...
