Swapping out my stock axle shafts for 1 piece Ten Factory chromoly shafts. The gears were setup with shims on the outside of the carrier so I can't get the carrier back in. Had to take them out to install the seal in the passenger side axle tube. Waiting on an diff housing spreader.
I have vibes at high speed. I figured it was my gear setup but now I’m thinking it may be my Tom Woods driveshaft. I’ll have to figure out a way to isolate that.
I ended up putting the jack stands on the frame right behind the bumper so it would be the least distance from the springs as possible and it worked fine. Got the drop arm brackets in and everything working good so far. I have some adjusting to do on my steering after installing the adjustable...
'91 4.0, AW4, NP231, Dana 30 front, Ford 8.8 rear, soon to be 4.5" coils up front, 3" leafs w/ 1.5" shackles out back.
I can't jack up the Jeep where I normally would because the kit requires access to the frame rail from the control arm mount all the way back to the cross member. I can jack...
I started installing a control arm drop kit. Is it okay to hold the entire front of the Jeep up by the bumper? Its a custom 4x4 that ties into the frame. I would think its fine but when I let the jack down the frame moved quite a bit.
Yes! Gruber is great for a day trip. It is 500 acres I believe so reasonably sized but nothing like some ORV parks. There is a really cool bluff on the Arkansas river but some of the mud holes to get to it are getting to be so deep you need 44's to pass. There are some cool trails appropriate...
Thanks for the info. Interesting to hear about the Ected. I already installed one in the rear but messed up the gears so it’s waiting on the e-locker so I can get it I stalled and have them fix my rear gears. I hope they make rebuild kits now! I really like the idea of limited skip all the time...
Finally got my 8.8 back in after attempting to set up my own gears. I thought the pattern looked perfect but that are noisy as hell. I'm going to take it to someone to have the front gears done and a locker installed and I'm going to have them redo the back ones while they're at it. Just posted...
XJ '91 4 door 4.0, AW4, Dana 30 / Ford 8.8.
I am ready to buy a locker for my front axle. I have settled on an Eaton e-locker but it appears there are 2 possible models: Eaton 19818-010 and EATON 19818-020.
Summit is out of stock on both and says that 19818-010 is no longer available. Amazon...
Thanks for posting! I've never heard of the OAT before. I want to take my son with me and drive it now and maybe camp along the way. Now I just need to get the Jeep back to working again...
