i am not all knowing on GM V6 jeeps but i will tell you that you should get rid of that motor as quickly as possible. I dont know what kind of mounting issues youre going to run into as far as getting the 4.0 in there but you have got to get rid of the 2.8. I did a renix to HO swap on my jeep...
nice rear end ; ) lol. yeah the butt of this jeep is going to be as simple as possible. i have smacked both shackles but its easy to drive off a shackle, not easy to drive off a hooked bed. i hate the rake these things seem to get gonna do long arms and 2 more inches of lift in the front of mine
the main problem i have is this is actually a daily driver so i have to do everything in these little steps. now that ive made the bed cut i want to basically resto-mod or i wont feel like its finished.
yes i want to build a bumper that ties the whole thing together and also again allows for operation on the tailgate, this is just the initial effort. and i didnt cut it to any specific length, i just cut 16 inches out. i wanted to get the overhang and close as possible and its pretty close
terrifying might be a strong word, ive driven a large portion of my jeeps with no sway-bars, itll help you be a much more careful driver, no speeding tickets.
this is simly how its done my friend. just use lock tite. the other option is welding but you will almost undoubtedly catch your seats on fire.:firedevil
i have a thread down the page a little where i did the exact same swap basically. feel free to check it out and ask any questions you could possibly have and i will be more than willing to answer.
I tend to agree.
Yeah i welded it while it was still attached to the motor. it was just a tiny little crack when i got to it and like i said i was planning on doing the new headers anyways so it wasnt something i stressed over real hard.
First off my opinion of welding manifolds, if you can afford it just buy a good set of aftermarket manifolds, its 500$ that you only ever have to spend once. I used a little Lincoln with gas and didnt get the whole crack so it stills makes noise when its cold. Im saving for Banks headers.
I...
my 8.25 that was used to do the SOA
and there she is all lifted.
There are a lot of pictures that got left out here but you get the general idea. all and all it took me and my buddy eddie with some scattered help from my dad and my buddy nick about 6 days to do this swap. big thanks to eddie...
painted the motor up
we all know what this is about
the best part of the job.
starting to look like a truck again.
and there she is moving under her own power yet still without a front axle
my old man helping me get the motor ready to pull.
up in the air she goes
