I've also being playing with idea for some time now. I think it would be possible to do the front fairly easily by adpating the airock system, but the rear might be a bit more difficult. I was thinking of four linking it or doing air over leaf which is basically remove most of you leaf pack...
If you do it right it looks good. I did mine front and rear. I had no experience and i think it turned out good. Take a look. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4286907137
Unless you plan on running with loose lugnuts.....I think you should be fine. The bolt pattern is centered so if you know how to tighten lugnuts it will be fine. My AR 767 rims aren't hubcentric and they are fine. Don't worry about it.
Flex is flex. You get a the same amount no matter what your tire size. Now the only limiting factor would be rubbing on sheetmetal, if you get rid of some you gain back the flex that was robbed by the sheetmetal. So if you want a LCG and 35's just cut it up a bit and properly bumpstop it and...
Take it to a driveline shop and have it straightened. We picked up a 9 inch for my dad's hot rod and it was bent a bit so he had it straightened. I didn't cost much at all. I realize a 9 inch and a dana 44 are totally different, but I saw the guys at the shop that did ours setting up to...
I did what GroversXJ did one my most recent one, but on the one before that (ya I have built a few) I used yakima gutter mounts. Both were easy to use but the yakima ones were bulky and grabbed trees. The ones I build are sleek and don't grab trees.
Why is this so hard to figure out? Just take the measurements and bring it to the local shock dealer and give it to them. They will get you what you need. Your over thinking. It's quite simply.
Hopefully I'll be drivin a 1934 Ford 5 window. My dad and I love projects. This thing is mint all steel, unchopped, wide whites, resto-rod style. The small block hooked to a 5 speed and a 9" between original framerails should get things moving nicely too.
The reason behind the harsh ride when you hit a bump is due to the steep angles of you control arms, because in order for your suspension to compress the axle needs to move forward. If you look at a jeep Xjs control arms the look flat (like=) aposed to a lifted Xj's control arms( like//). Do you...
It works great for gaining lots of droop. I ran 2 stock shackles on top of each other for awhile. But you'll need to run a something between the two or your ride sucks because of lack of leaf compression. I couldn't figure it all out so I just got rid of them and got some MJ shackles instead. Oh...
Have you tried a heavy duty equipment store that carries stuff for tractors and such. That's where I got mine from. Do the RE leafs come with poly liners in between each leaf? If not I suggest picking up some of that too.
You could splice power off your taillights and put in a switch in the rear so they only work with your headlights on and that way you don't forget to turn them off. Other than that there is no constant power souce in the rear. If you do wire it straight from the battery don't forget to wire in...
Go with the BFG A/T KO's. It's a legal snow tire. They are designed for the snow. I also put on tires for a living and that's all we'll sell to people wanting a good tire for all year round. I live close enough to the rockies to not to mess with them.
The belt routing and location of everything is the same as the ones with a/c, except the ones without just have a pulley mounted where the a/c usaully is. I don't have any pics though.
I know regular jack stands will be fine. It is actually better to have the rear low to the ground when swapping leaf packs. The front you want to have as high as possible. By the way why does it take everybody so long to finish their lifts? I did my mine in 6 hours, which included building my...
