Since this post the jeep starts but does not move in drive or reverse and that noise is constant.
It is just sitting now until we can get around to it.

Hi everyone!
2000 XJ 4.0 Auto 4x4 - RE 3.5” lift on 31s, 242 t case, 8.25 limited slip (factory) rear and D30 front, 230,000 all original miles, hack n tap. New plugs and oil/filter.
Buddy of mine just sent me this vid of his XJ. What would be causing this noise? I’m thinking transmission...
My friend is looking for a cherokee.
Needs to be:
97+
doesn't matter if it's auto or manual
under 120k
stock preferred
4x4 is a plus
no problems
Let me know what you have out there. Have cash in hand!
Hey i live in phillips ranch and i would like to come take a look at the intake. this will probibly fit my 2000 cherokee right? when are you available?
I have similar problems. did a little research and the awesome joe peters had this to say
Try this and see what happens. if it still occurs, you can rule out the heat factor
Other possible solution
like the title states, im in need of a dana 35 with at least 3.55 gear ratio, out of a wrangler. It needs to be coil sprung which is from the TJ years....
Cheap would be best. Let me know what you have
Ryan
I traced the lines and it goes all the way back to the gas tank. well to that black box just before the gas tank then another line goes to the gas tank.
What should i do at this point? I did the TCU thing you told me to do. Before i disconnected the TCU my check engine light wasn't on. Now that i drove the jeep with out the TCU connected (and its connected now) the check engine light comes on and stays on.
If its something to do with the EVAP...
Plugged it back in and my xj runs alot better, however, i still have the problem where if i hit a bump or turn just right the engine and the shut on and off repeatedly for about 2 seconds.
I used a OBDll scanner and pulled the code P0700-Trans Control System Malfunction.
Could this be causing my problems?
The rubber "L" grommet is cracked, brittle, and is lose once it is pushed back on that nipple. It will work its way lose after awhile.
