As long as you tie down to the gutters and not the crossbars, the track shouldn't take any loads that would make it rip off. I made the mistake of tie-ing down to the crossbars and pulled one of the bolts through the roof. Didn't have any issues tied to the gutters. I only had a 31/10.50 up...
Yup, tapped the ASD relay and it did nothing. I got it figured out though I think. I checked the ignition switch connectors and found that one of the connectors was cracked and I suppose that when it was plugged in it was allowing 2 leads to touch. Works fine now (I cycled the key about 50 times...
Hello again,
I finally got around to trying to figure this thing out. When I tapped the auto-shutdown relay, nothing happened so I went out and got a new ignition switch. Still nothing. So...... any other ideas? I haven't started checking for shorts yet. Anybody know of any common places that...
Thanks guys. I was thinking that it would probably be the ign switch as well but I didn't know about the auto shut-down relay. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated and if anybody could provide me with a location for that relay on a 1991 sport it would be great.
Thanks again
Hello all,
I'm having an issue with my XJ (91 sport, 4.0l 5-spd, 4x4). When I turn the key off the engine won't shut off. I have to stall it to get it to and then it acts like the key is still in the on position so I have to disconnect the battery so the battery won't die when its sitting. If...
I've been thinking of doing something along these lines myself. Its not so much the width that the gf and I have troubles with its the fact that unless I'm diagonal, I can't stretch out. If you do attempt this, please post a write up or something.
If the window motors are permanent magnet motors (I'm fairly sure they would be), you will need to find either a reverse polarity toggle switch or a DPDT rocker switch and do this: http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO:-Wire-a-DPDT-rocker-switch-for-reversing-po/
I'd say they'll probably write it off. The exact same thing happened to me last winter. I know its probably different down there but up here in BC, they said it was worth $2300 but they put a limit on what they would spend to fix it at $1800. With the frame bent like that they said it would cost...
I think it more has to do with lift height and probably stiffness of springs. I;m sitting at around 3" and don't run either sway bar. I dd mine as well.
Thanks for the help guys. If the TJ ones are the same then those are the ones I shall go with. Those Crown ones would be ideal if I could find them up here but I'm looking to try and get the heep leveled out this weekend so waiting for shipping won't work. I kinda like the look of the Energy...
Does anybody know what the dimensions are for stock coil spring isolators? I looked at GoJeep's website and the dimensions he used for making his own spacers were OD: 4 1/8" Inside: 2 1/8" tapering to 3". Does this sound right for isolators?
The reason I'm asking is that my local dealership...
That sum's it up very nicely. I have a 5-spd and would never go auto. I'm also a firm believer that if you know how to drive a standard, you don't have to ride the clutch to off road. Nice list mark:cheers:.
I had the same issue when I got my new XJ. I just put an extra small leaf in the rr leaf pack and it did the trick. I'm pretty sure they are just anti-wrap leafs anyways and it didn't noticeably effect ride quality or flex. I'm not sure if this would be the "proper" way to do it but it worked...
I'm running 31's with 3.07's as well. Its not terrible but re-gearing is definitely on the to do list. I run in 5th all the time on the flats but not on hills thats for sure. I think it more depends on how your jeep runs than anything else. I ran the same set up on the old heep and it was a dog...
Not sure if they'll work for you or not but I just picked up some surplus military ammo boxes for like $6 each. There's a variety of sizes and they all have pretty darn good latches and rubber gaskets on the lids to keep the weather out.
