your 93 will bolt right in. If it has the same gear ratio, then you are good to go. An easy way to compare is, mark the axle shaft or pinion yoke then block the jeep (to keep it from moving) put the transfer case in neutral jack the drivers side wheel up and spin the tire exactly one full...
Sounds like you had multiple problems and you have most of them solved.
If both top and bottom hoses are getting hot then you have solved the first problem of getting hot coolant to the system.
The next step is making sure the blend door under the dash is working properly. It sounds like it...
wow
way too many words for me. Started reading, got bored, then got hungry. Came back read some more, then retired...from work....then finished.
Lets try pictures. They're way more funner.

The music is good too. And you can click on the blue...
Rich mix means unburned fuel from either too much fuel or no spark in one cylinder.
Your red hot CAT confirms this. (I had a floor catch fire in an old Firebird from a spark plug wire coming loose on a long trip.)
your symptoms sound exactly like mine did.
In my case it turned out I had 2 plug...
Axle made a loud "crunch" and shortly after I heard a noise whenever I unloaded the drive train such as coasting to a stop. As long as I had my foot on the gas I had heard nothing.
This sounded like a pinion bearing to me but as I started to take the axle apart I found 3 bolts snapped off. I...
A quick check to see if it may be a 'dead spot' in the fan motor---
turn the fan on, roll up the windows and slam the back hatch...hard...
the resulting pressurizing of the cabin area can move the fan motor off of the dead spot (this dead spot is usually caused be one coil going bad)
The IAC does not take in air from a secondary inlet. That means if you block off the only hole the engine is sucking air in from (the throttle body) the engine will die.
I had similar symptoms to yours in my 91. I can't remember what the part was called, but it was a vacuum operated valve...
I have this same problem
turn it to run and the wiper move a little and stops, moves more and stops. It looks like the relay because when I put it in wash mode it moves fine.
can anyone help?
Whatever you do, just make sure it's secured. An 80 pound tire flying around in the cab during an accident on the trail or the road will kill you at surprisingly slow speeds.
Could be a blown head gasket, the symptoms you describe are exactly what happened to a guy I know, (can’t call him a friend, cause I can’t stand him…but that’s another story)
This is easy to diagnose
Check the coolant for low level or oil and check the oil for milky contamination.
If any of...
do not open the engine!!!!!
you have a sticky lifter...not a bad lifter...just a sticky lifter
replacing the lifters is a real pain.
try MULTIPLE cleaning methods. Start with a slightly heavier fully synthetic oil with half a quart of ATF for about 500 miles
repeat after 500 more miles or...
reverse cut gears are for high pinion axles also known as HP D30’s just look at the axle, if the pinion comes out above the axle it is HP and you will need reverse cut gears, like wise if it is below the center point of the axle is low pinion and you will need standard gears
it has been my experience (in Maryland and not with a 4.0L) that a stroker done properly will not dramatically increase emissions. To compensate for higher NO2 and CO (if any) just use a larger Catalytic Converter, use a high flow type and you’ll never know it’s there
had this exact noise and it was the trans mount...The motor mounts are also suspect at that mileage.
What was happening is the engine was "torking" the other way and the transfer case was kissing the floorboard.
both trans and engine mounts are cheap and easy to fix but it can be a little...
I agree with Dr. Dyno…it sounds like you have a good handle on the thought process. The JGC is newer but more expensive and it sounds like that is the only real issue. If you’re getting married you DO NOT need a payment. right now. At 108k the XJ is barely broken in. Fix the little stuff and...
