    Burned valve from cracked header maybe? Run a compression test on all cylinders and get back to us with the results. Could also be a bad injecter or injector wiring.

    My main consideration in buying one is the ability to have it calibrated. You can have a snap-on, mac, or some craftsman done by the seller.

    I think the 242j I put in my son's 91 Comanche was from a 96 xj. Only had to source the shift gate and bezel from an XJ 242.

    I put a 97 242j out of an XJ in my 87 Comanche w/ax15 and it goes in and out of 4wd much easier than the 94 242j in my 91 Comanche w/aw4.

    96 xj runs really rough and bucks at lower RPM

    As mentioned previously this could be caused by distributer needing indexing for cam position sensor. If the injectors are spraying at the wrong time it causes all kinds of weirdness that mimics tips problems.

    The kit I got from wittrans.com was complete except for the band which I ordered seperately. Had all the thrust washers and many sets of gaskets for all the different versions of this Trans.

    I figure I spent around $600 including the special tools and brake cleaner. I have a shift reprogramming kit as well as made some adjustments recommended by a friend that has a transmission shop. Mine shifts better than it did stock with crisper shifts.

    Did you add washers to the p/s spacer? Could be gear binding from being squeezed into frame. The Durango box is bigger round than the MJ/XJ box..

    I have a ladder rack on my project mj. It lived on my son's 91 for over 10 years. It is custom made for the mj by a local welder/hitch shop. I'm in Charleston atm annoying the fish but will post pics when I return.

    Do cruisers renix distributer indexing. The fuel injectors can be firing out of sync even if it is obd2. Sure made a difference in mine.
