I changed gears so had to set up the rear - if using the same R&P all you would need to set is the backlash as the pinion shims don't need to be touched.
It does fit and it does work! I put one in my 89 D44 - DD and Logging roads in Maine. Makes a big improvement over an open unit. Yes there are better - more expensive units - I paid $50 for a take-out from a 2000 (IIRC).
No one has suggested a lean condition? I would build an adjustable MAP sensor and richen up the fuel to test it out.
My 4.0 with K&N and Borla headers needed more fuel to perform properly. assuming no vacumn leaks I'd try building an adjustable MAP - lean condition causes quick warm up and hot...

The MAP can run off any manifold vac port - I used the one behind the t-body (closest to it). The throtle cable is a direct interchange (just the cable - don't need the pedal)
You do need the fuel lines to the rail - cut on frame rail and use 2 3/8 couplers to join the steel lines.
On my front Aerospace Components on the Drag MJ the caliper is mounted with 2 bolts and the bracket also mounts to the spindle with 2 bolts. We have used 2 bolt calipers on the rear of the dragster for years with no problems.
