I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction. I am in the process of bolting a sbc/th350 combo into my xj and am having problems finding a 6" long arm lift kit that will work. Everything I have found so far incorperates the trans cross member into the lift. My question...
Does anyoen have any tips or tricks to beef up the np 203 transfercase? I finally finished the 383 rebuild and it is making unbelievable hp. Now I am worried that it will not be able to handle the extra horsepower.
I tore the dash out to redo it and to replace the ac ducts and have forgot where everything plugs back in. So there is a wiring diagram in Haynes manual? Everything I have read on here says that there isn't one.
So is the $$$$$$ the reason no one really attempts to do this swap, or is it that they are just too unreliable? I guess My question is this setup reliable enough to offroad?
Thanks guys. My reasoning behind this idea was to allow for multidirectional flex. I was still wanting to set it up like a solid axle, but have the added advantage of keeping all the tread flat at each corner. Think it can be done?
I was wondering if anyone has attempted to swap an IRS from something like a C5 corvette or Jag into an XJ. I know that these rear ends are strong enough to handle the power. Does anyone have any ideas as to why or why not this would be a good idea?
I have the same problem with my XJ. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get replacement floorboards. I have looked everywhere on the net with no luck.
Not to sound like a SA, but I kinda figured that. I was wondering it there was an oil pan off a particular model that would give me the most clearance, or would I be better off using a circle track style oil pan.
After doing some thinking last night and reading the replys I recieved another question popped into my head. What oil pan will be the best?
Thanks for the help
Joe
My main concern at this point is the front coil springs. I am worried that they will not be stiff enough to handle the extra weight. Is this a problem, and if so is there a stiffer spring from something else that might be a a good sub.
This is my first attempt at builting what I consider the ultimate offroad XJ. I am in the process of implanting a 383 vortec in my 85 Xj. For a tranny I plan to use a TH350 and a NP205 transfer case.
I also plan on custom fabing a pair of Ford 9" axles to handle the extra hp and torque
Any...
