Help. Need to change my fuel pump on my 1990 comanche. The manual says tap the locking ring loose to pull pump however tapping on the locking ring taps just flattens the taps. How do I get the fuel pump out???

Need some expert advice. I have to weld (mig) a peice of 5/16 steel plate onto the frame of my commanche under the left door. The gas lines run down the other side of the frame. Is this possible to do without blowing something up??

Installed a new distributor into my 1990 4.0. I had to cut the "ears" off the distributor in order to set the timing and as a result the vehicle runs perfect. My question is why did this rebuilt distributor not just drop in as per instructions in the FSM??
