PA people - anyone ever get the Reading Anthracite access permit?

Meant to mention, the locals told us of "the waterfall" but we never found it. vetteboy, would you consider tossing me a GPS coordinate of that in PM? Would like to check it out someday. I'll send you the location of the trails we know about -

PA people - anyone ever get the Reading Anthracite access permit?

Hey dudes, No longer an XJ owner but the guy that bought my XJ wheels with us and brought this thread to my attention. I have wheeled RA land (legally), we bought the $100 passes in either 2006 or 2007, can't recall right now. You DO have to go there in person to get the permit, don't drive...

    rear main seal

Got it, thanks. I saw that 5-90 listed the front timing cover seal on his writeup too, but he didn't mention anything about the gasket set (it was listed out separate) so I figured maybe ya had to have it to do the RMS. Thanks again. CR

    rear main seal

Hey why the timing cover seal? Is that required to do the RMS or just the front? I think mine is leakin'....have already replaced the oil filter gaskets and since I just started running synthetic in the ol' girl I assume it's the RMS (not bad yet, knock on wood - just a little drip off the...

Check Valve the factory forgot....Renix CCV blowby fix

Agreed - it is more likely to clog now than before. However, I expect if it does clog it will pop the elbow off the small fitting on the top the valve cover as that is very easily pulled off. So it'll be easy to catch anyway!

Check Valve the factory forgot....Renix CCV blowby fix

Update, good news Drove the heep to work this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find that after doing this fix, the RPM's stayed right at 750 at idle. Previously they tended to hover around 675-700 when idling in gear. I figure the higher flow rate from the valve cover to manifold must...

    ball joint, wheel bearing ?'s

Check out NAPA's ball joints they're pretty good quality. $100 for upper and lower (one side). Wheel bearings - Auto Zone sells Timken bearings, pretty decent. Only thing I'll buy there. If it's the first set of wheel bearings you're buying don't waste time online - buy locally and you will...

Check Valve the factory forgot....Renix CCV blowby fix

Hey all, Been a while since I posted, been busy getting ready for our first baby that's due in December. And the XJ has been running good (knock on wood) for the past few months after a bunch of work I did last winter and spring. I just changed the oil and checked the air filter, was...

interresting issues, 91 cherokee limited 4L

I don't know about the 91, my XJ is an 88 and doesn't have them fancy codes :-P On my TJ though, it takes 3 no-fault startups to clear a code. So for that 02 code I would expect it to clear after a few trips around town. What o2 sensor did you use? Where'd you get it? I buy parts at NAPA or...

    '88 4.0 - Crank no start

I replaced the CPS about 6 months ago, I did clean the terminals and coat with dielectric grease. The terminals were fine but if I recall the stupid external clip on the connector snapped off, which is probably why it loosened up. I'll have to remember to wrap it with some vulcanizing tape...

    '88 4.0 - Crank no start

Checked for spark yesterday, asked the neighbor lady to crank it while I looked for spark and I'll be damned if it didn't start right up. The only thing I had done was snugged up the CPS connector before I removed the spark plug - that could have been all it was, or it was just being a grumpy...

    '88 4.0 - Crank no start

Thanks, will give that a shot. We did have some terrible rain come through a week and a half ago, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the tank on the jeep or the tank at the station got some water into it.

    '88 4.0 - Crank no start

Cranks fine but won't start. In the past year I've put a fuel pump, filter, fp regulator, plugs, wires, cap & rotor, lots of underhood wiring, MAP, IAC, TPS, CPS, injectors and it has been running great for about 8 months since I finished all that stuff. Parked it a week ago and tried to start...

    Parking boot

I was in the college parking office one time when this big dude carried one in, it wasn't damaged....he set it on their counter and said "hey, you guys left this on my car and it really kinda pissed me off" then walked out haha!!

    New news for Shell Rotella

There was a huge thread on ROF a while back with good information on the wear properties of different oils and requirements of engines with flat tappet cams. My takeaway was that the Mobil 1 High Mileage had the zinc & phosphorus contents that our motors needed, and that most oils rated ACEA...

    OEM Rubicon Wheel Question

There's another difference in them too - the 03-05 ones look the same as in the first post on this thread - a smooth transition in between the spokes from the wheel edge to the inside of the wheel. In 06, they changed them to have a lip an inch in - like shown in FitchVA's picture. I forget...

So I almost blew up my car this afternoon.....

BMW is backwards....at least my 85 bmw 325e was. Black was hot, red was ground. stupid, but that's what it was. I never would have been able to remember except for the red wire ran from the battery terminal directly to a big ground lug on the body about 1' away, and the black wire came into...

replacing ball joint - need to replace bottom sleeve in knuckle?

No FSM for my 88...Haynes doesn't include it. Will measure the one that's in there now and see how far from the bottom it is. Thanks! CR
