compatiable engines for a 2000 xj

Well this kinda stinks. I've got a friend holding a 2000 WJ motor for me with a spun bearing. He swapped it out with a rebuild long block and offered me the motor. I was planning on rebuilding it and swapping it into my 2001 XJ as a 150K mile preemptive fix. Guess it's back to the drawing board.

Tips for upper rear shock mounting bolts

I'm getting ready to do my rears again. Last time they snapped and I used a long 14" bit to drill up from the bottom through the hatch area floor, then came back with a hole saw and drilled down through the floor to give room for a socket. I had help, so it was just a matter of having an extra...

    '01 XJ No-Start

Thanks for the input! After replacement of the CKP it started right up. I do have to say that the two bolts that hold this thing in place are a real pain to get to, though. They're 11mm head, by the way, for anyone who may stumble across this post in the future.

    '01 XJ No-Start

Ok, so I've got no spark but I have fuel pressure. Haven't checked to see if the injectors are firing yet, but it seems from what I've read that the CKP is a pretty good guess at this point. Of course I'm at my office and my service manual is at home....where is this thing located?

    '01 XJ No-Start

I'm sorry, I thought I put more info in the original post. It cranks no problem but it won't fire. Right now it's sitting at work, so I'm on my way there to see what I'm getting as far as fuel & spark.

    '01 XJ No-Start

So, after sitting for about a week I can't get my jeep to start. It ran fine before hand, with the exception of cutting out at a stop a few weeks ago. I was able to immediately restart, though. After searching the board here it seems like I may be looking at a crank position sensor? It seems...

Cylinder head install, one more question

I've never swapped a head on a 4.0, but on other motors I've found that a swift blow on the side at one of the ends with hard rubber mallet will shake things loose a bit. Either that, or a piece of 2x4 and a small sledge can accomplish the same thing. Just enough of a tap to loosen things up a...

Helicoil on 2000 XJ Caliper Bolts

Just out of curiosity, has anyone looked into replacing the anchor plate that the caliper bolts to? I've been looking at front suspension diagrams and haven't been able to find it.

'93 4.0 HO: Chain, or belt?

Every time I've done springs/seals with the head on the car I've either stuffed the chamber with string to hold the valve up, or used an adapter and pumped compressed air into the chamber to hold the valve up. This was in a small engine bay with a 350, so I'd imagine it'd be a little bit eaiesr...

    Another Axle Seal Thread

Oh, that's ok. My parades get pi**ed on all the time. Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking too..... I was looking here http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/2001/02_feb/bearing/ and this seems to match up a little bit with what I'm experiencing. I've started to get a little bit of...

    Another Axle Seal Thread

Yeah, I had read that. To me that looks like it's for a vacuum disco axle, right? My understanding is that my '01 is a non disco axle. Are the part numbers the same?

    Another Axle Seal Thread

So I've searched all the threads I could find here on D30 axle seals, and am having a hard time coming to a conclusion on my problems. I've got a low pitched whine coming from what seems like the front axle on my '01. It only starts after maybe 15mph then as speed increases I have a hard time...

    Automatic Transmission Question

I've got an '01 Sport. Were there any other automatic transmissions used on these other than the AW4? I'm planning on doing a fluid/filter change and I want to make sure I have the right stuff.

    Rear Shock Replacement Problems....

I appreciate everyone's input, and especially the older posts that I found when searching. I understand how that goes. I help run a rather large F-Body board and I know how it can be when some of the same questions pop up over and over. I could talk someone through completely dissassembling...

    Rear Shock Replacement Problems....

I hear ya. I wasn't sure if there was a quick 'n easy or not. I posted minutes after this happened, in an "interesting state of mind", hoping for the best. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I'm sure I'll find the answers I need.

    Rear Shock Replacement Problems....

Well, I'm in the process of replacing the shocks on my '01. The fronts went great, but when I got to the rears I snapped all 4 of the bolts that mount the top of the shocks to the body. If I can extract the studs, does anyone know the bolt size? I'm not sure what's up in there. Is drilling...

    '01 Brake Help Please

I'm getting ready to replace the front brakes on my '01 XJ, but I'm kinda confused. I haven't had an opportunity to pick up a FSM yet. (I know, I know). Looking at different parts vendors online, there's a 3-1/16" height and a 3-3/16" height rotor for the front. One being cast and the other...

    01 hot start problem

I've got a similar problem with my 01. I get the #3 misfire code, but it doesn't seem to matter if it's hot/cold/whatever. The first time I got it, I changed the plugs and got the code cleared and it was fine. Same thing for the second time, but that was just a month and a half ago and I know...
