Just last week I had something new start happening in my steering while turning.
When you have the wheels cranked one way or the other while rolling through a turn the steering jerks toward center as the wheels revolve, about one time per revolution, then when you let the wheel slide through...
Ok,
my reason for starting this thread goes like like this.
After doing searches and reading posts on MPG I've come across three different camps which XJer's belong to.
1) My MPG just plain sucks...
2) I get the the average 20 MPG on highway and 15-16 in the city.
3) My MPG has just plain gone...
I second that, DeadEyeJ is absolutely correct. The anode always corrodes first. They sell anode kits for evaporitive coolers, I don't see why one can't be mounted to your XJ.
Not sure about the stumbling engine, but I would do a check on the critical engine sensors if your throttle body cleaning didn't help. But for future refrence do a little more research before paying that much for the fuel pump assembly, there are places where you can get one for a quarter of the...
Also take a look at the end of the axle shafts. The 8.25's are known to have a band wrapped around one axle shaft next to the brake drum. Some people say to look at the left axle shaft but on my XJ its on the right axle shaft. The tag should specify the gear ratio as well as whether the...
Thanks you guys, from what I understand,
A limited slip differential never truly locks both axle shafts together it just allows torque proportioning so that the wheel with traction never recieves no power while the other one is free spinning.
A automatic locker acts as a spool until a...
Looking for some input.
As I read through the posts on differentials I notice people calling parts like the Detroit Locker and Lockright "lockers" and making sure anything with a clutch pack is called a Limited Slip Differential, why?
I alway thought that whether it had dog teeth sliding...
Also,
have you tried the ECU relay, in troublshooting competitions thats always one of the parts they love to replace with a defective one because nothing will work. It makes it so you cant even get engine codes.
Good Luck.
You could try a used part locator service such as this one.
http://www.used-car-parts-exchange.com
I don't know what their service reputaion is but it worth a try.
I'm looking at getting some rubberized liners for the carpet in the XJ. I've come across two major brands, Husky Floorliners & Xtreme Catch All.
Which one does a better job?
If you don't have a bias one way or the other why do you like the ones you do have?
Up front, No, pulling up the...
If you ordered a late model Sport with the Freedom trim package they still had black bumpers and wheel mouldings and 16inch wheels. The NV 231 transfer case also recieved a oil seal on the rear output yoke.
In talking about the strength of curved steel a major topic was left out, "Cold Working". When the steel is bent it puts tension on one side and compression on the other. When these stresses are imopsed on the steel the atomic crystaline structure of the steel forms dislocated layers, (think of...
Correct,
stock command trac transfer case would be 1.00 in 2hi or 4hi, or 2.72 for 4lo, the AW4 only has 4 gears.
AW4 ratios as follows.
1st 2.80
2nd 1.53
3rd 1.00
4th 0.75
command trac 1.00 or 2.72
stock diff ratio 3.55
that should get you on your way with the number crunching.
sorry...
Maz,
heres the formula your looking for to calculate rpms at different speeds.
RPMs=(1056*Vehicle Speed*Tranny Gear*Transfer Gear*Differential Gear)/(d*PI)
the three gears values need to be entered as follows.
If your rear diff is a 3.55 just enter the 3.55, don't worry about the 1:3.55 or...
FitchVa,
I just like you have been looking at amsoil products lately. I don't really care for purchasing there syn oil when I can just go pick up some Mobil 1 at wal mart but I am very interested in purchasing their BMK-13 oil bypass filtration system. Basically the remote mount with the full...
