    Gauge Spiking

Had the same thing happen on my 2000 xj. Clean the battery terminals if they have a bunch of green and white corrosion on them. If they are really bad, I would replace the leads as well. Then, check the grounds in the engine bay. I had one that had rusted through and was making intermittent...

    Brake problems

Anywhere but a dealer. Don't kill yourself driving it anywhere though. Good luck.

    Brake problems

I'm out of school now and working in the auto industry. I don't wheel my xj much, but get to work on jeep programs and go to places all over the country. The closest local places I can think of would be Silver Lake (by you), Clio mounds (sucks), or Badlands offroad park in Attica, IN.

    Brake problems

That part just plain doesn't make sense unless fluid is coming out. Is the pedal truly going to the floor only when the steering wheel is turned? MC cylinder would be every application of the pedal

    Brake problems

Fluid would eventually come out the same hole if you pumped the brakes up.

    Brake problems

Fluid doesn't compress, so it's either leaking, or more likely you have a blown MC piston seal. Depending on how bad the seal is, you may be able to "pump the brakes up." Mark the fluid level in the MC, then pump the brakes a bunch of times. If there's no fluid missing, you need a new MC...

    brake trouble need help

Double check the brake lines for leaks from each rear wheel back to the MC, and make sure the fluid level in the reservoir doesn't go down after pumping the brakes a bunch. If everything is spongy still, it's a blown #2 master cylinder seal. Replace the MC and change the brake fluid...

    ABS...winter

A couple responses: Stopping in neutral won't help in anything but a manual as long as there is enough brake torque to lock the wheels. Locked wheels in snow and gravel is always shorter than an ABS stop. Generally, the spec is that the ABS distance on snow and gravel must be no greater than...

    ABS...winter

I've been lurking on the boards for a while, and don't like to say much unless I know what I'm talking about. I've been engineering ABS systems for about 7 years now, so here you go: It's perfectly legal for you to remove the ABS fuse as far as I know. Just make sure that when you do it...
