Failed Emissions - 142.0 Carbon Monoxide

Yup That was it. I passed emissions no problem. The new O2 sensor made a huge difference. Kinda makes me mad that the last time I replaced it with a bad one. Thanks for your help.

Failed Emissions - 142.0 Carbon Monoxide

After doing a little reading it seems that my O2 sensor works the opposite of later models. On later models the sensor has a voltage range of 0 to 1 volts. Higher voltage indicates a rich condition. However the O2 sensor on my 90 has a range of 1-5 volts, higher voltage indicates a lean...

Failed Emissions - 142.0 Carbon Monoxide

Thanks 5-90. I will try your suggestions this week-end Bajacalal- There does not appear to be any vacuum leaks and the exhaust is new from the cat back. Why does my O2 sensor show 5 volts on the mt2500 scan tool? Is that normal. That has bothered me since I installed it.

Failed Emissions - 142.0 Carbon Monoxide

From what I understand after reading these forums a Bad EGR would cause the CO reading to be lower not higher. Is that correct? 142.0 CO is extremely rich, it seems unlikely that a bad Cat alone could cause such a high number. Am I mistaken? Here are results of the emissions test Hydrocarbons...

Failed Emissions - 142.0 Carbon Monoxide

1990 XJ 4.0L I Failed emission last week with 85.2 Carbon Monoxide. It needs to be 20.0 to pass. So we replace the Injectors, Airfilter, Spark Plugs, Distributor(not cap) and oil. All of the above were due or needed. After doing the above I noticed the pedal to be a bit more responsive. I Just...

    High capicity Oil Pan?

Let me elaborate. I'm actually less concerned about the capacity as I am about the baffles and trap doors that come with an aftermarket oil pan. These allow for better oil control and keep more oil around the pick-up during extreme maneuvers or harsh angles. In fact I would also like to find a...

    BrushGuard Hits my Bushwackers

Yah I don't really like the PreRunner style. I like the Guards that extend over the headlights. I really like the looks of the one pictured above. Looks like I will probably buy it and atempt to bend it.

    BrushGuard Hits my Bushwackers

All I have seen from FourReal Steel are PreRunner syle brushguards. Nothing similar to the one pictured. The Brushguard by Warn is also nothing like the one pictured.

    BrushGuard Hits my Bushwackers

I just put on My Bushwacker Fender Flares. Now I'm looking for a Winch bumper and Brushguard that will fit my 90 Cherokee. I reallylike the one by Custom 4x4 Fabrication Pictured below. However the brushguard will hit my Bushwackers. Has any successfully modded this brushguard to work with...

    Help! Pinion seal problem.

Thank you to everyone for replying. I found Brian C. and Eagle's advice to be the most helpful for my situation. It isn't perfect, but it seems to drive ok. I drove it for 70 mi last night without a problem.

    Help! Pinion seal problem.

I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4wd (3.55). My rear pinion seal started leaking bad last night. So I got a friend to help me replace it. However he did not mark the nut before he removed it. Now we have no idea what the original position of the nut was on the yoke. What do we do? We are doing this...

Rough Idle-Test your trouble shooting skillz

Idles rough, barely stumbles at high speeds. The stumbling wouldn't be noticed by anyone else but me probably. It's that mild. The primary symptom is the rough idle. By rough idle I dont mean horrible rough, just rougher than it should. I drove another cherokee we had at work for awhile before I...

Rough Idle-Test your trouble shooting skillz

How often should I pull and clean the IAC? As I said, it made no difference last time I cleaned it. It hasn't gotten any better or worse since then. I seriously doubt cleaning it again will have any different result than last time, as the rough idle was present both before and after the last...

Rough Idle-Test your trouble shooting skillz

I Did clean the area around the IAC, but that was 3 mos ago. I doubt the occasional high idle trouble is from that cleaning. Is there a safe way to test my coil? Would that cause the rough idle? The main problem that really bugs me is the rough idle. I mention the other things because they may...

    4wd Vs. 2wd performance?

Can someone point me to detailed instructions on the Proper Throttle Valve(kick down) Cable adjustment. I found where to do it. Just press the button and move the cable. But what is the proper position on the cable at full throttle? I pulled the cable a bit toward the passenger side and the...
