yea my dust shield is ok ,very strange the original hub looks like an 89 style that has the rear seal but the original rotor hat depth measures the same as a 90 .the 89 rotor is not as deep.the original hub is a 1/4 " taller than 2 1989 styles that i have checked at autozone and advance...
my 1990 xj uses 1989 hubs with the rear seal ( one wasted parts store run ) but the correct hub is about a 1/4'' to short.with the rotor installed it hits the dust shield.parts store is now closed do i need a 89 rotor to match the off set ?
How about a rear axle bearings ? noise can get trasmitted up through the drive shaft .possible transfer case but would think that would do it all the time not just a bump or turn. you could remove the driveshafts and work the u joints by hand see if they are smooth also could take out the front...
have you checked you front end ? jack it up with the tire off the ground and inch or so get a long bar under the tire and lift up and down check for ball joint play ,grab your tire at about 6 and 12 and try to rock it in and out,any play? lastly just spin the tire and compare to the other side...
yea I have 165k on the orignals actually its only the right front thats bad ,left front is quiet .just wanted to see if its really a true timken not the cheap version timken ,kinda like how a tire maker will have their brand and then sell walmart a cheaper version of the same brand tire.
HAS ANYBODY USED THESE ? AUTOZONE LISTS THEM ( THE GOOD ONES NOT THE VALUE LINE ) AS TIMKEN BEARINGS.DONT WANT SOME CHINA CHEAPEES THAT ONLY LAST 6 MONTHS. THEY SEEM ABOUT 20 BUCKS CHEAPER THAN NAPA OR CARQUEST. ARE THEY WORTH IT? ITS A 90 XJ.
Have you tried auto computer exchange its right there in davie off stirling road 1-888-664-8787 .They are suppose to be pretty cheap.Maybe you can take your ecm to em to check it out or they might have a loaner since you live right there.
Try your local walmart .The 15w40 is the most common cause thats what all the diesels run.I have seen 15w40 and 10w30 at my walmart but the 10w30 seems to take longer for them to restock so sometimes they are out.In a pinch you could run 15w40 my buddy does in his 4.0l but its a little warmer...
