poomba......I took mine apart and cleaned it as described at that link. Worked like a charm and wasn't at all difficult. Once you get all the crusty, hard grease out of it and clean it out, it works great. Hard to believe that sucker costs that much, huh?
Later, Phil
Yeah, I didn't mentiom it earlier, but I took mine off and douched it out with contact cleaner then shot some WD40 in it to rinse it out. Seems ok now, but we'll see how it does over time. I wish it was as easy as the neautral safety switch to take apart and clean! :D
Thanx, Phil
Thanks, I found it later. Checked with several parts stores in town and just about everybody carries that one. Price ranged from $60.00 at the dealer to a low of $42.00 at the Zone. Next time it acts up it outta here.
Thanx again, Phil
Thanx, I went out and looked. It is electronic both for the speedo and the cruise. The reason I asked was there was a NEW one on Ebay for $10.00, but it turned out to be the wrong one. (#56027015)
My local dealer has one for for "only" $60.00.
It's supposed to be part # 5252438. We'll see...
Just a quick question. Driving into work this morning the speedo needle never even moved on my 91. I haven't had time to look at it yet. Does that have a 'sensor' on it for the speedometer, or is it mechanical? Seems kinda odd it just stopped. Thought I'd call and see what a sensor runs...
I hate to throw stuff away. :D I had to put new lights on my 91 XJ because the housings were rusted out. The glass, gaskets and reflectors are fine. If anybody wants or needs em drop me a line and they're yours for postage. Just the thing if you have a broken lense. They are "Blazer" brand and...
Just went thru this same ordeal the other day on my 91. Of course the dealer gave me the WRONG O-ring set the first time around. Kinda hard to drive to the dealer when your oil filter adapter is laying on the bench. Phil
Thanx, I was wondering what was under that adapter. I didn't have any luck getting into that site. All I got was this place....Alentus Home Page. I don't know what the problem is there. Thanx again though, Phil
I just discovered this last night and thought I'd ask.
I developed a slight oil leak and it was dripping off the bellhousing. Fearing the worst I "assumed" it was a rear main seal. On closer inspection it's actually the oil filter adapter leaking right where it seals to the block. I didn't...
Hi Mark, how much for the drivers side mirror? I'm gonna take it off and see if I can fix it (the cable) but if not I'll need one. Thanx for responding!! Phil
Guys, I need a chrome, manual remote, drivers side mirror for my 91. Anybody got a nice one....or know of a good source for one? Thanx, Phil
Hi Guys, I had my dealer run the VIN number on my 91 Cherokee and print a build sheet. I discovered it came with a "Tomb Raider" Group. Can anybody tell me what this consisted of?
The Dealer didn't know. (go figure)
Thanx, Phil
(I've already looked everywhere for Laura Croft, she didn't come...
The early and mid 80's Lincoln Mk's had a simular setup. I robbed a lid from one to graft onto the console top of my 63 Galaxie XL. It slides out of the front edge. They sure weren't thinking about drink holders in 63! Oh yeah...snagged it for nuthin. The car had been submerged at the yard and...
Thanx a lot for the reply. I can get one made locally if need be. Heck, that picture was so big maybe I should just print it and hang it in the back window! Thanx, Phil :-))
