    D30 carriers question.

Is there a difference in the carriers of a standard D30, and the HP D30? Are they interchangeable? I just bought a D30 carrier for 3.73 and numerically higher gearing with the intent of putting it in my '98 XJ, along with some 4.10's or 4.56's. The carrier came out of a '97 TJ. For some reason...

Long arms and upper control arms.

Has anyone used adj. UCA's in their stock mounting points with a long arm LCA set-up? I know the standard practice is to mount the UCA's to the long arm LCA's, but that results in caster change as the suspension cycles through its arc of movement. It would seem if the UCA's were retained in...

Backlash adjustment on a ChryCo 8.25

Does the 8.25 diff use shims, or the adjuster nuts like a 9.25. If it uses the adjuster nuts, where can I pick-up an adjuster tool, or does anyone have any idea on how to fab one? TIA, Dann

    Dana 30 non-disco info?

Does anyone know if D30 axle tubes are dry? In other words, only the diff housing is lubed, and the oil seals are inboard in the axle tubes at the diff housing, with only dust seals at the outboard (knuckle) ends. Any info on this would help me focus on what I need to be looking for when I get...

In need of an exploded diagram of a Dana 30 non-diconnect...

..for a '98 before mine explodes. Noticed a slightly different sound , or perhaps "feel" would be a better word coming from my front driveline about 2 wks ago while driving a trail in North Carolina. Unfortunately, I didn't think much of it, and yesterday while swapping out my LCA's, and...

Control arm length in relation to amount of lift

A while back, I remember seeing a link that someone posted with approximate control arm length in relation to lift amount over stock. I'm hoping someone can help me find that chart, or point me in the right direction. Also, what is a cheap, easy, and fairly accurate way to check your camber...

Drop pitman arm & steering box brace.

Are these items necessary or recommended for 4.5" to 6" of lift, with the stock steering set-up? TIA, Dann

Spline count on a '98 8.25 axle shaft.

Does anyone know the spline count on an axle shaft out of a '98 XJ with a 3.55 Trac-loc 8.25 rear end? Is it 27 or 29, or ???? TIA, Dann

Has anyone installed their own SYE?

And if so, what is involved, any machine work or clearance issues? Is it a pretty much disassemble, replace components, and reassemble in reverse order? Can it be done with the t-case still mounted to the tranny? Any and all advice appreciated. TIA, Dann

    Dakota leaf springs.

OK. I can get the rear leaf packs out of a '87 2wd, or a '90 4wd for the same price, $50.00 a set. Which pack is the most commonly used. Also, are they the same damn thing? This was done on the phone, and I haven't seen them yet. Thanks, Dann

Curiousity about Skyjacker Rock Ready lifts

I have no plans to get one, but am interested in if they are truly "Rock Ready", as I heard them referred to as "Skycrapper". What's the deal on these lifts. I won't lie, they look pretty good from what I have seen. In other words, they photograph well.

Anyone in Jax, Fla or surrounding areas?

I think the subject sums it up pretty well. See my post in the mod tech area, with the subject being similar to this. i.e.: Anyone in North Fla........ Thanks, Dann

Who is in N. Fla, and needs a hand....

...installing a lift, modifications, etc...I'm a welder/fabricator by trade, and have done my fair share of wrenching on SCCA ITB and formula fords/atlantics, including fabbing cages. I have owned a '69 FJ40, and a clapped out '85 F150. I installed lifts on both, swapped motors in the Ford, and...

Honest opinions on Rough Country(Rusty's) 4.5" lift

I understand that the 4.5" lift from Rough Country is the same as Rusty's, in fact I was told by Rusty's, that they make the kit. Well, I installed the lift about 3 yrs ago, and have had to replace the shocks, trac-bar end, and the rear springs are sagging, and in need of replacement. Also, the...

    Front hub bearing (4x4) repack/replacement

Does anyone have a link to a site that can walk someone through removing/repacking/replacing the front hub bearings(4x4) on a '98 XJ. I don't have a shop manual, just a Haynes, and they of course advise against doing it yourself, and thus don't have a step by step with photos at all. I'm a...
