You should be able to cut into the plastic cable at the end and use a pair of needle nose pliers to pop the hood open...
My Dad has been through 4 of these cables since he got his '01 Cherokee 3 years back. That worked every time but once.
Sounds like the refrigerant level is low.... I've been recharging mine every couple of weeks for the last few months. I know when the refrigerant is too low, the compressor cycles every couple of seconds. The gauge shows similar readings on mine...
Put a recharge kit on it for a minute or...
The hood release cable on my father's '01 broke 3 times. The first 2, the handle came off in my hand and I was able to cut into the cable and pop the hood by pulling on the inner cable with a pair of pliers. (It doesn't sound like this would work for you)
The 3rd time was a different story. I...
Yep, I put factory fogs on my '99. I had the pigtails under the bumper, the slots for the lights already cutout, the switch in the dash connected to something, but no relay and no relay sockets to plug into...
I just bought the lights only before I found this out and had to go back to...
I had it done about a year and a half ago when I had my '96 XJ. I believe it was the E22 recall... They replaced the cat (rattling real bad) and flashed the computer.
I now have a '99 and I am not aware of any recalls, but the cat is fine.
Got my '96 done earlier this year.
The cat was rattling real bad, so I got the flash done and free cat.
All free except that the mechanic claimed my O2 sensor was stripped and I had to buy a new one through them... (figures)
I got the recall done last year when I had my '96. I got the cat replaced for free. If was rattling like crazy since I bought it.
But... they wacked me for an O2 sensor. They claim it was stripped when they did the work, but i bet they were the ones who messed it up.
Success!!!
With the help of my girlfriend, we were able to fish the wire through the engine harness grommet.
Hooked everything else up and got it working... Like I read above I did not hookup the high beam cutoff. I guess I would have, but I couldn't seem to find the wire!!
Anyway, got the...
Ok, it looks like this project is going to be a little over my head...
Anyone local to central NJ want to lend a hand one of these days?
I'll buy ya beer
Steve.
Ok, I'm just starting the install, but I am stuck already...
I'm having trouble figuring out a way to run the yellow wire from the harness kit into the cab. It says to run the wire through the engine wire grommet if you can, but I can't seem to get my hand in there. The clutch mater cylinder...
Yea, I was reading that when installing the wiring kit, you don't use the second fog relay spot.
Either way I should have the wire kit by today and I'll be installing it Friday.
Thanks for the reply... I have not done much electrical work on my Jeeps, but I'm more than willing to give it a try.
Is most of this stuff plug and play? Will I have to splice into any wires?
I should have the harness in a day or two and plan to do the install on Friday.
I'll be sure to...
Thanks for all the replies...
I've been searching and searching and it looks like my Jeep did not come from the factory with fog lights, so whatever wiring is there is incomplete. I also have the Fog 2 relay empty and there are no sockets below it.
I ended up buying the wire harness from...
