Up for sale is my 98 Cherokee. I have owned it since 2007 and have spent countless hours and a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears modifying it. However the time has come to part ways with my beloved Jeep. I have invested over $10k in parts/mods. The list below is everything I have done to this...
So I think I’ve made enough progress to start a build thread. I’m starting with a 98 SE model I bought several years ago at a government auction for way too much money. It had low miles though so whatever. I’m going to give a bit of backstory so skip this if you are bored easily.
I did the...

Well I re-upholstered the overhead console in this thread HERE and then decided i'd try to get the onboard Compass and Temp sensor unit working. I found some wiring schematics and pin outs online for the pre 97 overhead console units which made this project possible. I could not locate a factory...
Well I found an early model overhead console at the local u-pull yard for $7 so I brought it home. I also brought home the visors because they had the lit vanity mirrors and were an upgrade from my plain ones. Here's a pictorial overview or how-to of sorts for re-upholstering your visors and...
Well not including the cap screws and hose clamps... :D
I saw this:

And thought I'd make my own because I dont have nor can I justify spending $350 on that one to take off a few bearings. Some pipe...
So I have always liked the look of the ARB winch bumpers for the XJ. Problem is, I could never justify spending $900 on a bumper
I started in Autocad and Google Sketchup and after about 932 revsions and tweaks I finally think I got a design I like:
On to cutting:
And throw in...
Well I have finally bought/gathered/built most everything I need to start my build up. First off, its a 98 SE with about 78k on the clock. GSA auction ex Gov. vehicle so it has a no frills interior... it does have gauges though...

Well I bit the bullet and ordered a Smittybilt XRC8 Winch. $288 and some change shipped. I figured at that price, if its a POS I'll mount it to the trailer and save for something else. Here are the pics:
Nice Box... fell apart as soon as the strapping came off...
Nice styrofoam packing...
I would like to publicly say thank you to jeepinoutfitters.com for having great prices, a NAXJA discount and to Jennifer for all her help and efforts this past few weeks. I made a huge (in my mind) order from them and the whole experience was great. I will definately order more stuff from them...
Lookin for the tone rings specifically but if you ahve some junk shafts laying around with the rings, I'd take them. Dont want to spend too much as this is sort of an experiment... I need them off of a later model XJ.
Anyone have any broken late model D35 ABS shafts and/or tone rings?
Hey all- Well I finally found a Dana 44 out of an XJ and I didnt have to sell my soul to get it...
$150 at a local wrecking yard...
Full rebuild is in the works, all new seals, bearings, and I'm going to try to find some sort of used locker for it as well. Plus the challenge is going to be...
Hey guys-
I have a 98 SE and I am in the process of building and ordering a bunch of stuff for it. Here's a roof rack I'm almost done with. I built the original version for an old Grand Wagoneer I used to own about 4 years ago:
It was too tall, too ugly and I just didn't like it after I got...
