Hi All,
Recent transport here from Sierra Chapter as I recently moved to Greensboro, GA. Sadly, the time has come to move on and I'm selling my '98 XJ. It's real clean and in great shape. Must see.
$8,000 (no trades)
Selling my super clean '98 Jeep Cherokee Sport with rare 5spd manual...
So finally knuckled down and replace the leaky stock exhaust header on my '98 XJ (5spd) and have decided to replace the O2 sensors after 176,000 miles on the rig. The model year only has two O2 sensors.
I've searched, but with mixed results. I'm obviously going to change out the upstream O2...
Had the AC low pressure switch replaced a while back by a local automotive AC shop. It has worked well over time, but it finally failed again.
Problem is, the low pressure switch that was installed seems to be a generic one of sorts. The shop cut the stock connecter plug off the wiring...
I've got the pan loose on my '98 5 speed XJ to replace the RMS, but I can't seem to get the pan loose from the rear plate between the engine block and the transmission. Unlike the auto's, there is no inspection plate cover to remove. It's all one solid plate between the engine and tranny. This...
I've got a '98 XJ that will get a new RMS installed this weekend. In preparation, I've gleened over all the writes up's, but there seems to be some conflicting advice on the use of RTV on the oil pan gasket.
I'll be using a single piece silcone gasket when I put it all back together. Some write...
I was recently reviewing my auto insurance to evaluate my coverage on my two cars. I've come to find out that I have this pretty cool adder/endorsement for both my Wife's '98 Nissan Maxima and my '98 Jeep Cherokee...
It turns out I have this "repair / replacement" clause that I had forgotten...
I've got this listed on the Sierra Chapter - For Sale site, but figured some more widespread exposure couldn't hurt.

Due to shipping hassles, I'd like to keep the sale of the axle local to the Eureka, CA area; or I would be willing to meet in...
The Corp 8.25 Axle.....
As the title states, I've got a built Corp 8.25 axle with 4.56 gearing, 29 spline stock shafts, with an Auburn LS for sale, out of a '98 XJ. Axle has about 50k on it, from being built. Gearing was set up by the local shop (Rocky's Off Road - Eureka). The pinion bearing...
Depsite my many hours of pouring over old posts, I can't seem to find a definative answer....
I have a XJ Dana 44 that I recently picked up for my '98 XJ. I'm struggleing to find out what cables to use for the emergency brakes. By my first observations, it's obvious that the stock emergency...
Stopped by the Santa Rosa Pick n Pull on Arata Rd in search of a rear hatch interior panel, since I cracked mine trying to remove it to fix a stuck latch.
Imagine my surprise when I found an 87 Cherokee with a D44 still intact! :eyes: If I hadn't already rebuilt my 8.25 last week (arghh) I...
I recently developed a noise in my '98 that I first though might be the harmonic balancer scraping on the timing change cover.
I tracked the noise down to what I think is the A/C pulley. It only makes a "scraping" noise at the start, and quiets down after about 10 seconds.
I noticed that...
Simple enough question... OEM TPS is about $105. Aftermarket is about $55. Other than the obvious cost difference, are aftermarket ones "iffy" vs replacing it with an OEM one? Any firsthand experience out there? Thanks...

Got my Harbor Freight flyer in the mail and noticed their Ball Joint / u-joint tool is half off for $19.99. Replacing the banged up sockets you messed up the last time you changed ujoints would pay for this tool.
I got one a while back at this price, and it's pretty good. Heavier than heck...
Odd thing I notice today on my '98 with a 5 spd with about 84,000 miles on it. The temp gauge was reading 115 degrees. Then it would jump up to its normal 210 degrees for a bit, then drop again.
Couple things come to mind... t-stat going bad, or perhaps temperature sending unit going bad...
So I'm anxious to try our my new mig welder on my XJ. This may seem dumb, but is there any "protocol" to welding on late model XJ's. What I mean is, do I have to disconnect the battery to protect the computer or any other electrical devices while I weld? Or can I just weld away? :dunno:

I came across an unexpected Christmas bonus, so now I get to treat myself a little earlier than expected :)
Based upon my "hobbiest needs", I've done the research and have narrowed down my choices between the following 230v MIG welders:
Miller Millermatic 175
Lincoln SP-175
Hobart 175 or...
