Cut the stock ones off, take a spray paint can trace it on the mount as close to the bottom as you can, cut along line, weld onto axle.
Takes all of an hr to do.
I have them on my little 91 JeepSpeed Jeep. Lot more vibs, but unless your wife is driving it who cares.
But they have been hammered on for a year now and held up great. Just dotn tighten the bolt through the bushings down too tight (instructions even tell you this).
Bent shafts typically will cause some weird brake wear, Id check the pads (but i dont know about that with rear disc). It might just be Aussie not wanting to fully admit fault.
Were the teeth just broken off the locker?
little 110v welder sometimes do a lot better welding to the thin unibody. We picked up a cheap little Lincon 100 just for welding sheat metal, b/c none of the other welders had the adjustability for the much thinner stuff.
Good someones got you covered regardless. :gee:
You can get away with it. My friends running a tall 8" lift with a stock rear drive line. He had to grind out the cardian joint to gain a little clearence for flex. He didnt have vibrations untill about 75. It does stress u-joints a lot more, but carry spares. I would still recommend a sye, but...
Guys it’s a great little club. They have a big well equipped shop open once a week to everyone. Lots of people who know their stuff always willing to help. Its where I started and learned most my XJ/Jeep/4x4 knowledge. Their trail runs are great, epically since you can bring along a wife and...
They are double bead locks stock. You can recenter then to almost any lug pattern. You can buy about 30 different rock rings for them. 2 kinds of run flats. Only down side at all is they are 16.5" rims
Also make sure your positive its broken. Ive seen a few people start cutting only to figure out the welds were not broken.
Its normal to hear all kinds of ungodly noises when your trying to loosen the shackel bolt. PB oil and a 3ft breaker bar are a must.
If it is broken just do a search here...
You have a problem just fix it.
Get under the Jeep while someone sweeps the wheels lock to lock while you looke for any movement. Something will be worn out, or loose. Watch your trac bar, steering, and control arms.
hahaha gotta love Rustys. Someone should start a compilation of Rustys horror stories.
Did it break right on a weld?
Good luck getting them to warrantee it, they hate to warrantee anything, but seeing how its only been a week and you weren't even off road they better honor it.
