    Phrases/Words that bother you. Opinions?

    I knew that was coming.

    Phrases/Words that bother you. Opinions?

I can't stand people that agree with something that has been previously posted and type X2 (or X3, or whatever the case may be). Actually, I'm surprised that doesn't bug anyone else.

    warm up time

I don't let mine warm up either, and I live in what feels like Siberia at times. I will say, though, that water temperature is damn near irrelevant. If you really want to know when your rig is warm, put in an oil temp gauge. Water temp over 100 doesn't mean your rig is even close to warm...

high oil pressue at start up.

This is normal on startup. Until the oil warms up, it is has a high viscosity rating (although the oil manufactures use additives so that the oil behaves as though it is a low viscosity oil at startup). Once the fluid warms up, it loses some viscosity and flows much more easily (once again...

    2wd to 4wd conversion?

Here ya go, just too a minute to find. Used search term "4wd conversion". I knew someone did a sort of write-up on it. http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=974786&highlight=4wd+conversion

    2wd to 4wd conversion?

It pains me to say this, cause I REALLY hate "search nazis", but there are a gazillion threads on this topic-and I think an actual write-up if memory serves. Basically, the general consensus is that in no way does it make financial sense to do the conversion. Edit: I see you said you searched...

Your top five engines of all time?

What are you :smoker:? Nothing wrong with the Renix vs. the OBD1/OBD2. I would much rather have my Renix then OBD1 era, and my renix is easier to work on then OBD2. On a side note, anyone ever notice that all the foreign automakers engines' use codes (22RE, VQ35DE)? What the hell is wrong...

Your top five engines of all time?

No, if I created categories for horsepower, torque, modifications, etc. it would make it too easy to list 5 engines per category. I'm trying to make you think of the top 5 all-around engines of all time. If you want, you can say why you put a particular engine in a list. For instance, here...

Your top five engines of all time?

OK, I was thinking about this in another thread, thought I'd get everyones opinion. What are the top five engines of all time? Here is the only caveat: The engine has to be from the "modern-era". For this purpose, we're going to call that 1950 and on (sorry 5-90, no obscure 1920's engines...

    Thinking about getting a ZJ

Yes, I don't think it was ever a good match. You'll be gear hunting without pulling at trailer. With a trailer, don't even think about hitting overdrive, and hope you don't have to drop to 2nd all the time.

    Jeeps New Cherokee

On a side note, I LOVE leather! Good (good leather is very hard to come by and usually needs to be an aftermarket item) leather is extremely durable, spill and stain proof, and just looks good. Not much you can do about punctures, but they get the cloth seats, too.

    Thinking about getting a ZJ

Do not buy a WJ or ZJ with the 4.0 and expect to use it for towing. You will not be happy.

    Output of stock alternator

So the question still stands: is the stock output of the alternator (assuming Renix era 4.0) enough to power all the accessories and the engine management goodies or does the battery need to kick in?

    OSU SUCKS!!

Big 10=grossly overrated. Texas vs. USC for title game.

Can someone explain the operation of the 242?

Of, so if it's an open differential essentially, then at any given time the wheel with the least amount of traction gets the most amount of power, otherwise all wheels have power, correct? I'm still not sure if I like the idea of not "locking it in" 4WD (thats one reason I've never cared for...

    Thinking about getting a ZJ

    1) You're lucky with the transmission issue then. Have you actually read the failure rates of those trannys? They are the 2nd highest failure rate of any transmission ever made for under 150,000 miles. 2) Your VC will fail. Is this your first ZJ? They fail because the inherent design...

Can someone explain the operation of the 242?

Since its all snowy and cruddy outside, I'm actually finding the need for 4wd off the trail. I've only previously owned heeps with the 231 case, but now have the 242 case. How does the full time feature work? I'm familiar with the viscous coupling on the 249, but the 242 doesn't have that...
