Yea maybe it is from the install...I had a local shop do the gear setup for me.
Didn't find any metal in the gear oil I drained and the diff doesn't seem to be making any noises.
I do have quite a loud whine when I'm on the throttle in 4LO but I'm pretty sure that's that Tcase.
Hey guys, I got my d30 regeared to 4.56 about a year ago. I noticed these marking on the oil slinger (I think that's what its called) when I was doing a fluid change recently. What do you think caused them?? Could this be an issue? It almost looks like they came in contact with the ring gear at...
Just because its working does not mean something is not on its way to failing or being worn out...a gear set will still work if set up wrong, but will whine or howl and wreck the gears.
The whine seems to be much louder than I recall in the past so that is why I am asking for opinions...but...
Hey guys, Im pretty sure this is normal and it is the Tcase whining but I just wanted to get some other opinions on it. I regeared my d30 to 4.56 last year and want to make sure it is not whining...
A link is attached to a video of my XJ and you can hear the whine quite well when I get on the...
Yea Ill grab some more pictures to try and narrow down the issue here forsure. I was more taking those ones to make sure those were indeed aftermarket perches
Thanks guys, when you suggest measuring the leafs...center pin to bolt eye, are you suggesting the leaf springs maybe be slightly off in length and not the diff causing the problem?
Here's some shots of the perches. They look aftermarket to me, and whoever built them also notched the perches...
lol, I was waiting for that type of reply ;)
Yep, pin is good.
Do you think the pass side perch being welded a small rotation forward compared to drivers side would cause this?
Good to know, Ill definitely be picking one up in the spring!
Just pull it forward a little more? I think shortly after this photo was taken I did unstrap and pull it forward a bit. It seemed to help a bit but still gets a little squirrely from time to time.
Thanks for the idea with the two straight edges! I measured it with a 4' level on each tire. 57 7/8" bang on front and back. Hoping that is solid enough to assume the diff isn't bent and it's most likely the poor perch placement.
I was definitely rushing when I put these leafs in...2 hours...
Hey guys, I swapped in a 4.56 aussie locked xj dana44 a few months ago. I got it off a guy that flopped his xj...now it's got me wondering if it is bent as it sits forward in the passenger wheel well. The drivers side looks centered.
I also swapped in some brand new RE 5" leafs at the same...
I tow with my '11 Ecoboost f150, max tow package and 3.73's. It tows quite well. I'm thinking of getting an anti sway kit on the trailer though because it does sway side to side a bit on the highway...
Ok right on, thanks guys!
I am going to go hit the parts store for hard brake lines now.
As for tapping and drilling a new hole and re-using the 8.25 bolt/breather I may go that route but not yet as I am running out of time preparing for a MOAB trip next week (oh and I always have bad luck...
Hey guys, Im just in the middle of swapping in a xj dana44 into my '98 XJ. I had the c8.25 before and the brake junction bolt is much bigger than the brake bolt needed for the d44. I know the breather fitting is also in a different location on the d44 but that should be fine as I am also...
Im doing the ZJ 136a swap right now. I took the alt-->PDC wire from the donor ZJ as well. It is thicker gauge but the fusible link look to be the same gauge as my XJ one... Will this be ok to use??
I figured that the factory installed it in the ZJ to handle the load so it must be good. The more...
I have wised up and decided to use relays as per most people's recommendations... I just need to know the proper way to wire it up. Does that diagram I posted look right? And can I use a smaller gauge wire to run into the cab?
Well I have finally got time to get back into this project. I have the fan trimmed and mounted, cut off the clutch fan pulley etc and am ready to wire.
I am going out to try and buy two 4 pin relays, one 40A and one 70A.
What amp will the on-off-on switch i purchase need to be? Is 20A ok if I...
Great info, thanks alot.
I replaced the starter...didnt start. (I bench tested the starter before I put it in and it worked)
Then I replaced the pos post on battery and removed both cables, snipped fresh wire, cleaned it all up and removed/sanded the negative ground at the block and she...
