i want to get a transmission cooler for the XJ and because i live in a cold winter climate, I will be going from the stock in radiator cooler first, and then the aux cooler. I will probably just get a OEM cooler from the junkyard. My biggest issue is
1- which line is the return to the...
I havent been able to get back to doing anything on the jeep yet due to the constant rain!! but it has not acted up since i cleaned the battery posts. I will redo the grounds also. What do you guys put on your battery posts to keep the corrosion away?
UPDATE......I went out to the Jeep this morning, and it started up and idles fine. I went for a short ride to the store and when i got out of the store, it wouldnt start, and acted like the battery was dead? after trying it a few times, it finally turned over, but started acting up again. I...
Thanks for the replies, I just changed the plugs last weekend. the cap and rotor are good. It is pouring out right now so i will go out tomorrow and see if i can get a code from the jeep. or i can take it to Autozone, and have them plug it in for free...:D
My cherokee has 156K on it, (4.0 auto 4x4) and recently has developed a intermittent starting and idling problem. It only happens if i go to start it and it catches runs like it is missing, and immediately dies. Then when i try to restart it, it will crank but wont start unless i give it gas...
sorry, the tire size is LT215 75 15 1996 XJ 4 door Country edition 4.0 engine 4X4 automatic tranny. it really sounds like the tire is riding on the corner of the tread instead of the flat of the tire when the wheel is turned to the left. but i checked the tire, and it is not wearing...
1- I have just discovered that the bolt that connects the trailing arm to the body of my cherokee is broken! the head of the bolt is gone but the bolt is still in the mounting bracket on the body, and the bushing in the arm. I got a new bolt from Jeep (9 bucks!!) but cannot get the bolt to...
Hi guys, I need some help. My 1996 XJ has had a bad gas smell that turned out to be a leaky tank. I just replaced the tank this past weekend with a new one and drove the jeep over 200 miles in the last 2 days without a problem, but now i am getting a strong raw gas odor coming from the...
thanks for the replies, :worship: I was just asking because i am towing a small trailer (no more than 2300 lbs. ) and i am doing some routine maintenance on the vehicle and want to change the rear end fluid and just wanted to know if there was a special type i should use etc... i am also going...
I just got off the phone with my local jeep dealer and i gave him the VIN on my 1996 cherokee country edition. he told me that i have a "3.55 axle with posi because the computer didnt say anything about it being a limited slip. and i had a AW4 tranny. so now my question is...is that good or bad?
just wondering about a new exhaust on my XJ should i go stock or freeflow? i do tow a trailer so i dont want to lose the bottom end "grunt" or, torque. I have heard that some free flow system can actually change the torque curve so it doesnt come on until higher revs. I need the torque for...
well, i think i will go with the shackle and spacer route for a 1-2 inch lift and i am putting monroe load leveler shocks in back, and monroe sensa-tracs in front. but i have heard theload levelers raise the back end up about 1/2 inch. so i will probably put those in first and see where i...
thanks for all the replies! would these lifts be ok for towing? (spacers and shackles) i read about negative arc :confused1 spring bending or something like that....
i have always wanted to get a 1.5 or 2 in lift for my xj but i dont feel like spending 600 bucks of more for the lift. I liked what i saw on rocky road website but have read alot of bad things about them on this site. so what are my options? I dont go wheeling and i just like the look of a...
my fault, let me do this again. if unloaded, it doesnt sag, at all and last time i had 2 adults, camping gear AND the trailer attached. sorry for the confusion
my 1996 jeep country edition sags while towing. (yes, i know the XJ's are notorious for rear end sag) i dont know when the last owner put on new shocks so here is the question. I was looking at the Rancho RS9000 that are adjustable. BUT seeing how i dont tow all that often would i be better...
